NO. 10 OCONOMOWOC VS. NO. 12 ST. THOMAS MORE - 4/12/24

By: Isaiah Glidden
Area Scout, Content

Ryan Brennecke, LHP, Oconomowoc, 2025
South Carolina commit. Currently ranked No. 9 in Wisconsin’s junior class. Brennecke was the first of a few impressive arms the Racoons rolled out there on Friday. Out of simple and repeatable delivery, the southpaw sat 87-91 mph in his start, running it up to 93 mph on one pitch in the third inning. Off of his lively fastball, Brennecke spun in a sharp 1/7 breaking ball in the mid-70s for called strikes and also whiffs outside of the zone. Rounding out his productive three-pitch mix was a fading changeup in the low-80s that featured some late depth and proved to be an out-pitch he used to righties. Brennecke finished his illustrious outing with five strikeouts over 3.1 innings and failed to allow a hit, too. A high-level arm in the state’s junior class.

Anderson Hayes, RHP, Oconomowoc, 2024
Notre Dame commit. Currently ranked No. 17 in Wisconsin’s senior class. Built at a long and projectable 6-foot-7, 215-pounds, Hayes impressed out of the ‘pen for Oconomowoc. Working with an up-tempo pace, Hayes pounded the zone with a three-pitch mix, all of which came from a lower 3/4 slot that makes him a tough at bat for both right-handers and left-handers. His fastball sat 87-90 mph throughout his short stint on the mound, with major life to his arm side. He spun in an aggressive breaking ball in the low-80s with sharp and late lateral break at the plate. He also turned over a fading changeup that was also in the low-80s and played with late fade/depth. He finished with four strikeouts over his 1.2 innings of work.

Kyle Alivo, RHP, St. Thomas More, 2024
Iowa commit. Currently ranked No. 10 in the state and No. 396 nationally. Came out of the ‘pen in the final inning of the close matchup and held the opposition scoreless to earn the save. Listed at 6-foot-1, 165-pounds, with plenty of room to add on to his lean and athletic frame. Athletic mover on the bump, paired with a ultra-loose arm from a 3/4 slot. He worked his fastball up to 93 mph in his one inning of work, playing with some easy ride and life through the zone. He showed clear confidence in a sharp and tight slider, throwing it in any count to earn swings-and-misses both in the zone and out of it.

LIVING WORD LUTHERAN VS. ST. FRANCIS - 4/11/24

By: Isaiah Glidden
Area Scout, Content

Gavin Weissenburger, RHP, Living Word Lutheran, 2026
Uncommitted. Listed an athletic 6-foot, 175 pounds with more room to add size and strength. Struck out five across his six innings of work and allowed just one hit while walking one. Worked with pace throughout his outing. Simple mover on the bump, pairing it with a quick and loose arm. Relied heavily on his fastball that sat 83-86 mph throughout his elongated start, showing the ability to maintain his velocity. While he didn’t go to it much, he did flash a tighter breaking ball with late 11/5 break, too. Overall, Weissenburger is a raw prospect, which is to be expected from a sophomore, but he did assert himself as an intriguing name-to-know inside of the state’s talented 2026 class.

TUESDAY, APRIL 9

New Berlin Eisenhower vs Wilmont - 4/9/24

By: Kevin Cronin
Illinois & Wisconsin Data Analyst, Area Scout

Charlie Wait, INF/RHP, New Berlin Eisenhower, 2026
Uncommitted. The 6-foot-1, 194-pounds right-handed pitcher got the ball to start for his team. A slow, controlled tall-and-fall delivery that uses a high leg lift to generate power, long strided in line with home. Repeatable arm action with every pitch, short, full circle action with an over-the-top slot. Wait’s fastball came clean out of the hand and worked downhill, sitting 72-75 mph. The primary secondary pitch was the curveball that had a 12/6 action to it due to the arm slot, working at 66-67 mph. Wait finished the day going four innings, with two runs allowed on eight hits and struck out four.

Chance Ruby, INF/RHP, Wilmont, 2026
Uncommitted. Listed 6-foot, 176-pounds with a lean, athletic frame. Currently ranked No. 12 in Wisconsin class of 2026. The right-handed hitting infielder got the start at shortstop and was slotted in the leadoff spot for the team. Ruby sets up in a tall and narrow stance with his hand held high. Works into a smooth load into the back leg, with a short gliding stride to the pitcher. Ruby has quick, athletic hands that allow him to hit the ball to all fields. During his third at bat, Ruby went the other way for a single and later advanced to second after reading the throw. Ruby jumped on the mound to close out the game, 1.2 scoreless innings pitched with two hits and struck out one. A deliberate delivery that works parallel to home and finishes in an athletic fielding stance. The arm plays from a loose low 3/4 slot which allows his pitches to deceive hitters. Ruby attacked hitters using a fastball that played mainly straight but had some armside movement occasionally, sitting 82-84 mph and topped at 85 mph. Backing the fastball was the slider on a 11/5 lateral movement, coming in at 71-72 mph.

No. 12 ST. THOMAS MORE VS. SHORELAND LUTHERAN - 4/9/24

Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 21 in Wisconsin's sophomore class. Some strength in his 5-foot-10 frame. Tallied three hits in STM's win on Tuesday. Sets up tall in the right-handed box, before controlably loading back to get into hitting position. Level path through the zone with quick hands that have ability to shoot the ball to all parts of the field, and over the past couple of looks, he has continued to add more-and-more power to his upside bat. Defensively, he is an athletic mover at the second base position and pairs it with sure-handed actions that can certainly stick up-the-middle in the long run, too.

MONDAY, APRIL 8

MANITOWOC LINCOLN vs. SHEBOYGAN SOUTH - 4/8/24

By: Josh Fields
Area Scout, Data Coordinator

Noah Wech, RHP, Manitowoc Lincoln, 2024
Oklahoma State commit, currently ranked No. 6 in Wisconsin’s senior class and inside the top-350 nationally. The strong 6-foot, 187-pound right-hander has real feel to pitch, working up-tempo throughout his outing and effortlessly able to repeat his delivery and release point. Wech took some strides in holding his velocity across an extended outing, something that we have not seen before, and the ability to consistently land a breaking ball in the zone and use it as a put-away pitch with two-strikes. Wech ran his fastball up to 93 mph in this look sitting in the low-90s throughout and showed feel to work the pitch east-west and also up in the zone for swing-and-misses. Wech’s command of the pitch was also noticeable, not missing in the middle of the zone and rarely leaving his fastball vulnerable to opposing hitters. His breaking ball looked like a true swing-and-miss pitch going forward with the shape and the velocity, throwing it hard at 79-83 with sharp 12/6 break. Heading into his final prep year Wech has shown once again that he is a top-pitcher in the state and is garnering more attention on the pro side, either way the future looks bright for the right-hander.
