Milwaukee Preseason ID: Stats Posted

The 2014 Milwaukee Preseason I.D. is now in the books and was easily the best collection of talent we’ve seen at an open prospect identification showcase in Wisconsin.
The stat sheet on this event rivals many invite only showcases across our PBR coverage area. Normally we see a few standout players and then the numbers will significantly drop off, but at Milwaukee Preseason I.D. the depth of statistical tools was incredible.
24 of the 46 pitchers in attendance broke the 80 mph mark. None of which were seniors and the majority of those were freshman and sophomores.
14 hitters broke the 90 mph mark recording their exit velocity from the tee and all but one were 2015 or younger graduates. To put that in perspective – do an advanced search of players in Wisconsin who have previously posted 90 mph exit velocities and you get a grand total of 14, most of which are seniors or already playing D1 or pro baseball.
Six outfielders showed off 85 mph arms or better, led by 2016 Cyrillo Watson (South Milwaukee) at 95 mph and 2015 Doran Turchin (Oak Creek) at 94 mph. Check out this year’s Super 60 Pro Showcase stats, the top outfield velocity was 93 mph.
2016 Ben Rortvedt (Verona Area) posted an event best pop time of 1.86 and showed off an 82 mph arm out of the crouch. Those numbers are better than Dan Jansen (Appleton West, 2013), the 16th round pick of the Toronto Blue Jays, put up at last year’s Super 60.
13 infielders touched 80 mph or better across the infield. 2016 Joe Dittmar (Richmond Burton, IL) led the event showing off an 89 mph arm across the infield, while Virginia Tech commit SS Gavin Lux (Indian Trail) was 86 mph across the diamond.
