Wisconsin Uncommitted 2024s: Two-Ways and Pitchers

By: Isaiah Glidden
Staff Writer, Associate Scout

With the conclusion of our 2023 events now behind us and as the offseason rolls along, our staff thought it was time to shed some light on some best uncommitted prospects the Badger State has to offer. We will continue this series with the top uncommitted two-ways and pitchers in the state’s senior class that, to our knowledge, have not announced their commitment yet.

Make sure to follow along as we will continue to highlight some of the top uncommitted prospects in Wisconsin’s 2025 class over the next handful of weeks.

TWO-WAYS & PITCHERS (LISTED ALPHABETICALLY)

Tyler Andrews LHP / Whitefish Bay , WI / 2024

From 6/29/23 “...Andrews is back on the summer circuit after a successful junior campaign for reigning Whitefish Bay. On Thursday Andrews impressed yet again in a short amount of time. Andrews is a a loose and long, high ¾ lefty that pounds the zone. His fastball sat 76-80 mph, T81 mph with some carry. A spinning curveball also proved to be efficient at 64-68 mph with a 12/6 shape. Pitched to contact with efficiency.”

Donatello Badalamenti RHP / Notre Dame Academy , WI / 2024

Badalamenti is a strong 6-foot-1, 210-pound pitching prospect to know in the state. Across a couple of looks this year, the uncommitted right-hander has run his fastball up to 84 mph from an easy and balanced delivery. He has also shown quality feel for two breaking balls; the first being a sharp 11/5 curveball in the low-70s and the second is a short slider that he is able to land in the zone. His changeup has also continued to improve, as it is thrown with intent and plays with sink to the armside.

Chase Baker LHP / Mukwonago, WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 97

From 3/18/23 “... is a long projectable framed southpaw with upside on the mound. Baker has an up tempo athletic delivery that he repeats consistently. His fastball works downhill from a high three-quarter slot that tops out at 85 mph with slight arm side run. He has a 1/7 curveball he can land for strikes and a change up with fastball intent. Baker’s velocity continues to tick up year over year as his off speed pitches continue to develop which makes him an interesting arm from the left side.”

Grayson Flugaur RHP / Franklin, WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 45

Flugaur Has long been one of the most competitive pitchers in the state’s 2024 class and remains a top uncommitted arm in the state. His mid-to-high-80s fastball plays up even more, as it features ride and carry through the zone to earn whiffs. As for offspeeds, Flugaur’s curveball plays exceptionally well off of his fastball, with big 11/5 action. If that wasn’t enough, he also has a tight slider and a fading changeup that he can utilize in any count, too.

Keagen Jirschele SS / RHP / Mosinee, WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 25

From 7/11/23 “...seemed like he was hard at work during the offseason, and he got to show off these massive gains during Tuesday’s loaded event. First, Jirschele showed up boasting a more filled out and physical 5-foot-10, 175-pound frame with strength all throughout. He started his day off by running the quickest 60-yard dash of the day at 6.79, which speaks to just how much of an athlete Jirschele is. Then during BP he recorded some of the top batted ball metrics of the event, from a strong and repeatable right-handed swing. During his round, Jirschele reached highs of 100.6 mph on his hardest hit ball and averaged 92.7 mph which was an event high. Then during the infield defensive portion he featured clean, athletic actions and paired it with a strong arm that topped at 92 mph across the infield. While Jirschele’s big jumps on the offensive side of things were impressive in their own right, the strides he has made on the mound were arguably even more eye-popping as he put together one of the most electric outings we have seen this summer. During his brief one inning of work, Jirschele ran his fastball all the way up to 92 mph, and sat in the 88-91 range exclusively, while spinning it at above-average rates (2,151 RPM avg.). He also spun in an aggressive curveball for strikes that was thrown at arm speed and featured 11/5 action. He rounded out his three-pitch mix with a changeup that he used sparingly, but still featured fade and depth traits.”

Cooper Kamlay RHP / INF / Franklin , WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 94

From 3/18/23 “...is an athletic and toolsy two way prospect in the state. Kamlay has an athletic build at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds, he showed off that athleticism by running the third fastest 60 yard dash at the event at 6.80 seconds. He then showcased his barrel feel and barrel control with a loose and fluid swing hitting line drives through the middle of the field and turn on balls for pull side power. He continued his notable performance during infield defense by showcasing his smooth actions with a quick first step and a strong throwing arm across the infield (87 mph). On the mound, Kamlay can back spin his fastball up to 85 mph which shows ride and carry through the zone. His curveball has a shorter sharper slurvy look and shape to the break and his change up has quality lateral fade to the pitch.”

Sawyer Kowalkowski RHP / Ozaukee, WI / 2024

From 7/20/23 “...provided an intriguing look for Rhino Squeeze on Thursday afternoon. 6-foot-2, 145-pounds with plenty more room for added strength. High leg kick delivery that is sequenced. Arm plays quick and loose with whippy action. Fastball jumped out of the hand working in the low-80s, topping at 84 mph with finish through the zone. Dropped down to a submarine arm slot for an upper-70s changeup with depth to the arm-side. Also featured deceptive a low-70s curveball that was thrown at arm-speed. An interesting prospect on the mound to watch as he physically matures.”

Jacob Lueptow RHP / OF / Elkhorn , WI / 2024

From 7/20/23 “...navigated a challenging lineup with a fastball sitting 83-86 mph, maxing out at 87 mph multiple times. With that, he utilized a cutter and slider to draw weak contact and whiffs, completing his successful three-pitch arsenal. The right-hander continues to trend up in stock as he enters his senior season at Elkhorn.”

Noah Marschke LHP / Stevens Point Area, WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 22

One of the highest ceilings in the class comes from the southpaw, Marschke, who stands at an upside 6-foot-3, 190-pounds. Marschke is a simple, yet raw mover on the bump and pairs it with a quick arm that has created fastball velocities upwards of 88 mph in our looks. As for his offspeeds, his low-70s breaking ball plays with 1/7 action and his changeup is a quality change of pace offering in the mid-to-high-70s. The upside is real for this arm and he continues to be a name-to-know when talking about the state’s top uncommitted prospects.

Brayden Rohde RHP / Oak Creek, WI / 2024

From 3/18/23 “...Built at 6-foot, 165-pounds, Rohde still has room to add on strength to his frame. He’s an athletic mover, utilizing a medium/high leg-lift to work into balance point before striding down the mound in-line. His arm plays with a repeatable circle into a ¾ slot, producing a fastball that sat in the 83-86 mph range with some finish through the zone. He showed a knack to spin the breaking ball, spinning his slider between 2,500-2,600 RPM routinely with sharp 10/4 bite. His final offering was a straight changeup with developing feel, 72-77 mph.”

Mike Schoon RHP / University School of Milwaukee, WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 89

From 3/18/23 “...showcased his athletic delivery that works downhill with good direction and a high three-quarter slot to deliver fastballs through the zone with arm side run at 83-84 mph. He pairs the fastball with an 11/5 shaped curveball that flashes late sharp movement at the plate making it a potential out pitch weapon. He also showed feel for a change up with late fading action.”

Cal Smith RHP / SS / Baldwin Woodville, WI / 2024

Smith is an upside 6-foot-1, 188-pound, two-way prospect from the Northwestern part of the state. On the mound, Smith is a simple mover with a strong arm that has created fastball highs of 86.6 mph in our looks. He also features a curveball with 12/6 action in the high-60s and a short slider in the low-70s. He rounds out his four-pitch mix with a fading changeup that is also in the low-70s. As for his bat, Smith swings a short right-handed bat that has shown the ability to repeat hard contact up-the-middle and to his pullside.

Ryan Sopha RHP / Pewaukee, WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 98

From 3/12/23 “...is built with a durable 6-foot-4, 225-pound frame with impressive athleticism down the mound. Sopha worked his fastball in the 83-85 mph range, struggling to command it at times but playing with life through the zone. His next offering was a sweeping slider at 70-71 mph, averaging over 17” of horizontal movement and reaching over 20”. To round off his repertoire he went to a fading changeup at 75-79 mph, playing with up to 15” of run.”

Easton Stone RHP / Rice Lake, WI / 2024

Rankings,  PBR Wisconsin: No. 27

From our Wisconsin Class of 2024 Rankings: Risers story 11/16/23 “...is a strong bodied 6-foot-2, 205-pound two-way prospect who has shined at a couple of PBR Minnesota events this year. On the mound, Stone has ran his high carry fastball up to 90 mph from a clean and athletic delivery. His breaking ball has also shown to be an out-pitch, playing with 12/6 break and averaging over 2,500 RPM. He rounds out his impressive three-pitch mix with a deceptive changeup in the mid-to-high-70s changeup with over 15’ of run on average. Offensively, he has flashed some power potential from the right-handed box from an easy and controlled swing which has created exit velocities up to 99.4 mph. Stone has continued to trend upwards over the course of this year and he is now firmly one of the top uncommitted prospects in the state.”
