No. 1 Mount Carmel (10-1) blanked Crown Point (IN) 7-0.

No. 2 St. Rita (16-0) crushed Bishop O’Connell (SC) 10-2, to win the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Tournament on Saturday. The Mustangs outscored their four Myrtle Beach opponents 51-4 and have outscored their 16 opponents on the season, 179-30. Heading into the week the Mustangs were ranked fifth nationally by MaxPreps. In this contest Mateo Zunica and Danny Gleaves,each plated a pair of Mustang runs and Tennessee-bound Tyler Halas improved to 4-0 on the mound. Halas allowed two unearned runs and two hits in his six stellar innings of work to pick up the win. Halas fanned five and walked three.
No. 4 Joliet Catholic (8-2) pounded Plainfield East 10-0 behind a two-hit shutout from Danny Ersham. Ersham fanned five and walked two in his masterful performance on Saturday. Drake Fellows and Nick Dalesandro led the Hilltopper attack. Fellows doubled and plated three Hilltopper runs while Dalesandro had three singles and an RBI for JCA.
No. 6 Brother Rice (11-3) was shocked by Andrew (5-5) in Mount Greenwood on Saturday 8-5. Indianapolis-bound Michael Schalasky had three more hits for the Crusaders.
