Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: Shane Laforest, RHP
Shane Laforest RHP / OF / Belle River District, ON / 2018Rankings StateRank: 32 / POS: 13
Team: Windsor Selects PBR Events Attended: 2017 Windsor Open ID Camp, 2016 Windsor Open ID Camp Background: LaForest had a very successful 2017 campaign emerging as one of the better right-handed pitchers in Ontario. He had a very strong Canadian Summer Games pitching for Team Ontario and backed up that performance with a strong showing at Tournament 12. LaForest has an athletic frame with a compact delivery, there is some arm strength with a good drive towards the plate and use of his entire 5-foot-10 frame. The delivery is simple and repeatable without a lot of stress, his fastball hit 88 in October, which was a jump from the 84-85 it sat at during the summer. He has shown good command of the pitch with some natural movement caused by a high three quarter arm slot. The curveball ranges from 68 to 72 with the good ones featuring tight rotation and late action. He is very comfortable throwing the pitch to both sides and it can get swings and misses. Changeup is developing but the feel for the pitch is apparent. 2018 Outlook: |
