2023 PBR Hawaii State Games: Positional Data Dive
August 23, 2023
On August 19th, Prep Baseball Report staff travelled to Hawaii to officially launch PBR Hawaii with a pair of events, highlighted by the Hawaii State Games. The inaugural event took place at the home of the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The event featured roughly 55 prospects from the 2024 - 2028 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth first look at the talent in Hawaii, as well gather significant data on each player.
Earlier this week, we broke down the top measurable data performers from the event with our Statistical Analysis and Pitching Data Dive. Now, we will take a further in-depth look at the top positional data with the help of our tech partnerships, broken down by the categories down below:

Body Rotation: A swing that has the appropriate relative contributions of body and bat rotations is an efficient and Powerful swing that maintains proper sequencing. An efficient baseball swing is one in which the body creates the initial movements, which is then transferred to the arms and out to the bat, thereby maximizing Bat Speed through this proximal-to-distal kinematic sequencing movement pattern.
