Las Vegas Fall ID - Quick Hits

On Sunday, October 15th, the PBR Nevada staff hosted the Las Vegas Fall ID. This event featured some of the top Uncommitted Players in Southern Nevada with the Players to Watch list growing with a handful of both Upperclass and Underclass that colleges should have on their radars. 

Like all of our events, players participated in a pro-style workout in front of our staff and collected unrivaled data in the process through our top-of-the-line tech partners. These events also serve as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the PBR Nevada State Games, Future Games, West Coast Games, and others.

Now, at the event’s conclusion, our staff has combed through our notes from the day and put together these ‘Quick Hits’. Below you will learn more about a handful of names that stood out from the Las Vegas Fall ID.

  

QUICK HITS

+ Ben Lovering, 2024 OF - The 2022 Future Games standout made his return at the Las Vegas Fall ID after an injury cut his high school season along with his Summer and it took him no time at all to announce his presence, earning event bests in each metric that applied to him on Sunday. Lovering got his day started with the event's Top Swift Perfomance 60 Time - 6.90, followed it up the the Top TrackMan Exit Velocity - 101.5 mph, completed his day with the Top Outfield Velocity - 89 mph. His obvious physical development throughout his 6-foot-1 frame help acheive his new personal bests and sets up the Unsigned Senior for a big Spring Season.

+ Andrew Kaplan, 2024 IF - The Uncommitted Senior put together a standout performance of his own with the help of significant strenght and size increase througout his 6-foot-1 frame. His day got started with one of the most impressive Batting Practice Sessions of the day that featured a 101 mph TrackMan Exit Velocity, improved feel for the barrel and increased confidence now present both side of the ball. Defensively, his lateral range has improved, mirroring his improved footspeed that was on display during the Swift Performance Timed 60 - 7.07. The improved ranged could only be outdone by his event best Infield Velocity - 90, that solidified his ability to stay on the left side of the infield at the next level. Kaplan had his breakout season this past Spring and he looks to take it to another level in his Senior campaign.

+ Alex Jang, 2025 IF - After reclassifying from the 2024 Class to the 2025 Class, Jang will enter his Junior season at Faith Lutheran as a prospect who we expect to have his breakout season. He joins an already talented lineup, bringing the improved, present tools that were on display at the Las Vegas Fall ID highlighted by his pull side power potential (94.3 mph Exit Velocity) that was on display throughout his Batting Practice Session. On the defensive side, Jang showcased his improved footwork through the fielding process to go with his 87 mph Infield Velocity that would allow him to play either spot up the middle at the next level.

+ Dane Keener, 2026 C - Keener got the Las Vegas Fall ID with one of the more impressive rounds of the day with flashes of his present power on display throughout his mature Batting Practice Session where showed off his gap-to-gap approach with consistent feel for the barrel. The Team Nevada representative at the 2022 Junior Future Games had noticable proportionate physical development throughout his frame that still has room to fill out even more with his power at the plate expect to parallel those physical gains. Keep an eye on Keener as a player to have on your radar following his sophomore season.

+ Shawn Mack, 2026, RHP/1B - Mack made arguably the biggest impression on the PBR Nevada Staff at the Las Vegas Fall ID with a Bullpen that featured his fastball/curveball combination coming out of a long, loose, high 3/4 slot with present downhill action. Living moslty in the low to mid 80's, he commanded the zone with his fastball then on the final pitch of his bullpen, reached back for a bit more and was able to top out at 86.7 mph with seeming much more in the tank, especially as he continue to fill out his 6-foot-2 (and growing) frame. His curveball, the lone secondary pitch (for now), saw his Average Spin at 2450 rpm while it maxed at a Peak Spin of 2681 rpm, projecting to see those number contine to trend upward as his velocity and strength continue to progress.
