On Wednesday, November 8th, thousands of high school baseball players across the country signed their National Letters of Intent to successfully fulfill their dedication to playing baseball at the collegiate level, with a multitude of players from Kansas alone going through this process. 

Over the next few weeks, our staff will spend some time highlighting those names that signed their NLI to play baseball at the Division I level. We’ll do so by breaking these names up by conference, starting with the SEC, and working our way throughout the NCAA Division I landscape. At a later date, we’ll spotlight the names that signed to play NJCAA, NAIA, Division II, and Division III.

TENNESSEE 

The Volunteers continue to rack up top tier prospects in their recruiting classes on an annual basis and that isn’t any different with this Kansas’ 2024 class. 

Two of the top prospects in the class signed with Tony Vitello’s squad last Wednesday, starting with RHP Anson Seibert (Blue Valley Southwest, 2024), who’s one of the more unique prospects in the country. Toeing the rubber at a hulking 6-foot-9, 225-pounds, Seibert’s been at the top of these rankings since last summer and he’s firmly entrenched himself as one of the top right-handed arms in the nation as well. He pitched at 94-96 mph at the Area Code Games this past August, showing low-90s heat with his fastball regularly, and complementing it with a low-80s slider, as well as a mid-to-high-80s changeup. There should be no shortage of professional eyes on the Volunteers’ recruit each time he takes the mound this upcoming spring. 

Anson Seibert

1B Jack Jones (Shawnee Mission East, 2024) owns no shortage of physicality within a 6-foot-3, 215-pound muscled-up frame. Jones boasts some of the loudest sheer power in the state, regardless of class, while flashing bat speed and inherent hand strength from the right side. We’ve seen him breach the century mark from an exit velocity in the past (100.2 mph) and translate it to gameplay too, with real gap-to-gap juice from a middle-of-the-order profile. A key part of Shawnee Mission East’s trip to state last spring, Jones is primed for a big spring yet again to wrap up his prep career.

ARKANSAS 

Arkansas’ success recruiting the Kansas City area has been well documented over the years, and the Razorbacks dipped back into that well to grab two players from the ‘Sunflower State’. 

L/L OF Cameron Carter (Olathe West, 2024) is an explosive 6-foot-2, 180-pound athlete that’s been towards the top of our state 2024 rankings for a large chunk of his prep career. A double-plus runner with top-of-the-order wheels, Carter swings a flat and simple left-handed barrel that impressed our LakePoint staff this summer. He’s also shown big arm strength at our events in the past, pumping a 95 mph high on his firmest bullet from the outfield. Carter’s loud tools are hard to ignore and he’s unquestionably one of the more gifted athletes in the region. 

Cameron Carter

A member of Team Select at the Future Games in 2022, OF Eli Lovich (Blue Valley West, 2024) has plenty of projection left on a lanky 6-foot-4, 180-pound frame. He impressed throughout the year at the plate, playing a role in his high school’s state championship and parlaying that success over to Creekside as the summer rolled on. It’s a simple, rhythmic, and twitchy left-handed swing that’ll flash juice at times while also effectively covering the plate to all fields. He’s a notable runner too with collegiate bloodlines to pair, adding even more to a profile that’s already plenty enticing. 

MISSOURI 

Signed with the neighboring Tigers, RHP Victor Christal (Bishop Miege, 2024) is one of the top arms in this Kansas’ 2024 class. At 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, Christal’s lively arm speed and dynamic arsenal are hard to miss each time he toes the rubber, starting with a low-90s fastball that plays with life and carry up in the zone (2500-2600 RPM). He’ll land his breaking ball for strikes, while also grabbing whiffs on the mid-to-high-70s pitch that’ll show sharp spin and depth (2700+ RPM), and he’ll show a low spin changeup in the low-80s as well. Christal’s sheer stuff is certain to draw professional attention this spring, though he’d be a quality addition with impact potential early on to Mizzou’s pitching staff should he make it to campus.
