Prep Baseball Mississippi: Preseason Event Preview

On November 7th, Prep Baseball Report launched its National Preseason ID Showcase Schedule, including two events from the state of Mississippi. It all starts on January 20th with the Mississippi Preseason ID and continues the same day, across the state line in Collierville, TN as we help host the Mid-South Preseason ID, followed by one of our biggest invite-only events of the preseason with the Mississippi Preseason All-State that will be held at Clinton High School in Clinton, MS.
If you're curious to learn more the Prep Baseball's showcase structure, here's an idea of what you can expect while attending and following a Prep Baseball showcase.
WHAT IS A PRESEASON ID EVENT?
The Preseason ID series is unique in several ways. It serves as an identifier heading into the spring high school season, giving our scouts as well as college recruiters, a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the Preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains, primed for updating their PBR profile. All of which lends the perfect opportunity to secure invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events such as the Top Prospect Games, PBR Future Games, and more.
Our staff strategically hosts Preseason I.D. events throughout the state in search of players who have taken advantage of the offseason, identifying new prospects to add to our follow lists or players our staff is already familiar with who are on the rise.
All player information including tech metrics, stats, videos, scouting reports and more will be hosted to the Prep Baseball Report website, bolstering the player profile, which is subscribed to by more than 900 colleges across the country.
MISSISSIPPI PRESEASON ID
We're excited to kick our 2024 schedule off and run our first Preseason ID of the winter at Holmes Community College in Goodman, MS. This Preseason ID is an open event and is available for all 2024-2027 prospects. We expect several players from various parts of the state to make the trip to Holmes CC on January 20th. Our staff is eager and excited to get on the freshly renovated park and all turf playing surface that they have added in Goodman.

MID-SOUTH PRESEASON ID
On the same day (January 20th) the Prep Baseball Tennessee staff will be hosting the Mid-South Preseason ID that will be held in Collierville, TN at Collierville High School's new indoor athletic training facility. Last year we had a great turn out from the Magnolia State where 21 players made the trip up to Memphis for the same event and we expect several to make the trek up across the state line again this year.

MISSISSIPPI PRESEASON ALL-STATE

+ The Mississippi Preseason All-State is our first invite-only event on our 2024 schedule and it is set for Saturday, January 27th at Clinton High School in Clinton, MS. This showcase is an anuual event that allows our staff and scouts to see some of the top talent that the state has to offer in one setting throughout the 2024-2027 classes. Last year this event was filled with talent all around, including several Future Gamers, ranked prospects, Division-I committs and much more. Expectations are high for this event and we're pumped to see the litter of talent set to attend in 2024.
Last year's roster for the Mississippi Preseason All-State now features 25 college commits, including 4 Divison-I commits such as '24 C Coy Clements (Oak Grove HS; Southern Miss commit), '24 RHP Jack Ketchum (Heritage Academy; Alabama commit), '26 3B Cole Prosek (Magnolia Heights; Ole Miss commit) and '25 C Banks Teater (Magee HS; Southern Miss commit). Clements and Teater were also both Future Games participants who represented both Team Select and Team Mississippi at Lakepoint Sports.
There were also a handful of JUCO commits from the event, the 2023 Mississippi Preseason All-State consisted of 21 JUCO prospects and counting as we see commitments come in throughout the year.
