With another summer season concluding, the recollection of the many unforgettable performances of players in the 2021 class start to replay after the releasing of the updated 2021 overall rankings. The summer unveiled numerous advancements made by players all across the state as well as introducing new ones that popped up. PBR’s boots-on-the-ground staff scoured the nation with the commitment to providing the most credible and reliable information in amateur baseball, and culminated the summer with the PBR Future Games, at LakePoint in Georgia, to put an exclamation point on the season as more than 300 college coaches packed the facility to see the top uncommitted underclass players compete against each other.

Texas left a sizable impact on the updated 2021 overall rankings with three prospects rounding out the top 10, and 14 cracking the PBR Top 100. Coming in at No. 3 is no other than SS Jordan Lawlar, the Vanderbilt recruit showed nicely at this years Texas Limited Series. Lawlar also a standout the Underclass Area Code Games, along with SS Texas A&M commit Izaac Pacheco who checks in at No. 5. Rounding out the top 10 is Oklahoma State commit Hagen Smith, the southpaw is solidifying his status as one the best LHP prospects in the class and is an arm that scouts will want to monitor closely moving forward.

Outside of the top 10, there was serval Texas prospects making sizable jumps in the rankings. Uncommitted RHP Ryan Johnson jumped six spot to No. 28. Dallas Baptist recruits Devin Bennett who jumped nine spots to No. 92 and Luke Heefner climbing 91 spots to No. 100. Heefner who was a member of Team Texas at the 2019 Future Games, along with No. 155 and recent North Carolina recruit Alec Grossman who probably had one of the most impressive showings this summer. Previously ranked at No. 255. uncommitted RHP David Jeon checks in at No. 188 after his performance at the Texas Limited Series.

Vanderbilt recruit. Lawlar’s low-intensity rounds are almost misleading because any lack of effort is made up for by the end result. The right-handed hitter remains impressively balanced throughout a swing that includes quick hands and lag in the zone. Impressive physically at 6-foot-1, 170-pounds with lean strength, he has some present pull side power without the need for any aggression, and there is likely much more in the tank.
