Fall Missouri Upperclass State Games Standouts

Kevin Moulder
Missouri Scouting Director

Last week the Fall Missouri Upperclass State Games took place in Atkins field in Columbia MO and it featured some of the top uncommitted players in the state. Below are a couple notable standout performers from the event.

JACOB ROETTGENLHP / 1B / JEFFERSON CITY, MO / 2021

Perhaps the standout performance of the day belonged to Roettgen. The big LHP struck out 7 in his 2 innings of domination on the mound. His fastball sat 85-87 and his curveball was 67-69 (2350 spin) and commanded the zone. This should be considered one of the top uncommitted arms in the Show-me state and has present day effectiveness with plenty of upside.

JEREMY SHEFFIELDOF / SS / WESTMINSTER, MO / 2022

Sheffield has taken a significant jump since last seen. The 6'3 long athletic bodied had a really impressive all around day showcasing well on the infield and outfield. Offensively his added strength and leverage showed through during BP driving plenty of balls, also showcasing a low 90's exit velocity. Sheffield is going to be an exciting player to keep close tabs on as there is still plenty more upside to the young all around player.

DREW POLITTE3B / RHP / LINDBERGH , MO / 2022

Arguably the top two-way talent at the event/uncommitted two-way '22 in the state had an impressive day in all three areas of his game. On the infield profiles as a strong bodied third baseman with good hands and actions with plenty of arm strength (86 across the diamond). At the plate Politte showed present gap to gap power, showing a 93 mph exit velocity and the makings of a middle of the lineup type 3B bat. On the mound he showed a fastball up to 85 with a clean short arm action. Arm on the mound has a lot of potential should he choose to go that direction to eventually be a power arm.

TYLER PRINCESS / 3B / MEXICO SENIOR, MO / 2021

Was one of the top SS at the event making a number of high end defensive plays during the game. Also showed he can impact the game offensively showing well in both BP (93 exit vlo) and the game. Clearly has a good feel for the game and is one of the top uncommitted SS in the MO '22 class.

ELI MARVINC / 3B / EAST CARTER , MO / 2022

Had a standout performance behind the plate during the Fall State Games. Showing consistent pop times sub 2.0 (1.93-1.98 during the showcase). Also showing an all around game running a 6.9 60, showcasing good bat speed during BP and posting a 92 exit vlo. An impressive blend for this uncommitted '22 catcher.

JACOB BROWNRHP / OF / WESTMINSTER CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, MO / 2022

The RHP showed off his plus pitchability during the state games, working his fastball up to 85 and using his calling card slider (2700 spin rate) effectively. Brown showed the ability to command the zone and uses his slider in any count.
