Quick Hitters: Team Beast NC Hitters

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

PBR was in Wilmington, NC on Saturday October 14th for a scout day with Team Beast NC.  The plan for the day included an indoor workout with some outdoor aspects at the Team Beast Facility.  The facility, beautiful and clean, allows players the ability to go through a full warm up and agility session.  It also houses a number of cages that can all be pulled back to give players a chance to do their defensive work.  We had planned to run and collect catcher pop times outside at the facility, but weather prevented a track that was safe enough for players to perform at top level so there were adjustments made to the plan.

The day began with timed 10yd bursts, using the Swift Athletic lasers.  Next, players went through a full offensive workout in an open cage area, allowing the ball to fly, with TrackMan recording the swings.  Defensive evaluations were next, followed by conrolled bullpen for the pitchers.

You can see the full roster and statistical output HERE.  In the coming days, we will continue to break down some of the players that attended this scout day on the coast.

Quick Hitters - Position Players

Brandon Bush, OF, Hoggard HS, 2027
Athletic frame with strength and quickness present.  Easy to project continued growth with his athleticism. Stands 5-foot-10, 145 pounds.  Right handed hitter works from an even base with a vertical bat.  Hands close to the chest.  Some rhythm with a mild load. Flat through contact. Exit velocity peaked at 83.6mph.  Aggressive through the ball in the OF with a clean action and over-the-top slot. Outfield velocity peaked at 84mph.

Camden Croom, 1B, New Hanover HS, 2026
Length and athleticism present at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds.  Frame will handle continued strength gains. Left handed hitter. Solid rhythm. Balanced in the pre-pitch with a small load back onto the back leg as the stride works softly to a toe tap.  Some uphill leverage through contact.  Worked gap to gap.  Exit Velocity peaked at 86.4 with his average at 75.3mph. Nimble feet and good hands around the bag at 1B. Looks to be an athletic first baseman that could extend the range of a team defense on the infield.

Cameron Murphy, 2B, Wake Forest HS, 2024
5-foot-9, 145 pounds. Right handed hitter. Tall, slightly open. Loads with a small leg kick, working the hands back. Strides to even.  Some effort.  Average bat speed. Flat through contact.

Dylan Stacks, 3B, North Brunswick HS, 2026
Some strength present at 5-foot-10, 185 pounds. Right handed hitter. Rocks back with a small hand movement. Short stride. Rotational over the front leg working with a little length but strong through contact.  Wants extension. Handled the ball up in the zone with strength off the barrel.  Peak exit velocity of 93.8mph, averaging 87mph.  Peak distance off the bat at 337’.  Works to play with solid bend in the hips on the infield. Easy transfer and medium arm action to a high-¾ slot.  Solid carry and accuracy.

Fisher Goodwin, 3B, North Brunswick HS, 2026
Physical presence at 6-foot-1, 208 pounds. Left handed hitter. Tall with a small kick to load.  Minimal hand movement. Glides onto the front side, showing more strength when strong on the lead leg.  Best power to the pull side, working for extension.  Showed an ability to hit to the opposite field as well. Max exit velocity of 91.3mph off the barrel.

Ryan Grisso, 2B/C, 2026
5-foot-7, 145 pounds. Right handed hitter. Balanced and simple with a small kick and hand action back.  Direct path, working flat, at times a little quick out of the zone.  Average bat speed.  Behind the dish, solid bend in the hips with a desire to receive and block.  Solid actions on the infield.
