NE Insider: The Recruiting Angle with Cam Climo

This time of year seems to be a very nerve racking time for unsigned seniors and underclassmen looking to get on coaches radar. No need to panic, it's early in the spring and once it warms up, the coaches will be out to see your game. Relaxing and enjoying the spring season is important, so keep in mind, control the controllable things and work on your game.

The following weekly article will be a feature on a player who has yet to break onto the scene, but certainly has the ability to play and/or pitch at the college level.

Being at a college game today made me start thinking about how I broke down scholarship offers in the field when I was coaching. There are many different ways to distribute your scholarship monies, 11.7 is a fully funded program and most schools have academic monies that don't count towards the 11.7. Think about it, where do you want to spend your money?  For me it's in the middle of the field and on the mound. So many times, the positional player on 55% gets beat out by the walk-on, measuring the intangibles in the recruiting process isn't an exact science. That's why higher level coaches get fired, it's all related to recruiting. There is a fine line between being really good and having a bad club, couple middle of the order hitters have good years, with two pitchers and you are probably a good club. How much would I pay this outfielder to play for me?  Please go out and decide for yourself.

Today we are going to take a look at Cam Climo, a 2016 outfielder from Billerica Memorial, Massachusetts.
