Belmont Hill vs Middlesex 5.18.19

By Kevin Hummer
PBR New England Scout

Evan Sleight OF / OF / Belmont Hill, MA / 2019

Report: Left-handed hitting outfielder, headed to UVA. This kid can flat out play. Extremely fast hands through the zone from the left side, explodes hard out of the box down the baseline. Hands are active before the pitch, and keeps his body closed when he swings. Sets up with a wide base and a simple leg lift as the pitch comes in. Plays with a lot of intensity and is a natural leader. Covers a lot of ground in the outfield. Plays center for Belmont Hill but definitely has the skills to be a corner guy at the next level. Throws from the outfield are kept low and are accurate. Strong arm during IO but didn’t have a real chance to show it off during the game.

North Haven Scouting Notes 5.16.19

By Trevor Brown

Ruben Ramirez C / 3B / Notre Dame Catholic -Fairfield, CT / 2020

Report: A catcher with an average athletic frame. He is a strong kid who looks to be an above average defensive catcher. He showed off a strong and accurate arm by throwing out two baserunners. The release is quick and he did not let many pitches get by him throughout this game. He moves well behind the plate and looks to be a solid athlete. At the plate, he is a right-handed hitter with a slightly open stance. The feet are shoulder width apart and he uses a short stride for timing. The hands are loose and work well. A good looking young catcher who is a strong defender and has the potential to develop the bat as he gets older.

Essex vs Mount Mansfield 5.15.19

By Bruce Bosley
PBR New England Scout

Daniel Rickert RHP / Essex, VT / 2020

Report: Righty with a smooth motion (approx. 5-11, 160 lbs), had a mid to high 70s fastball and a sharp curve. Was stronger in latter part of his five-plus inning start (hit 80 in fifth) when his team took the lead. Threw strikes and worked quickly, also was effective with off speed pitches, and kept the ball low with several ground ball outs. Pitched to three batters, one out into the sixth and with pitch count issues, he was removed in favor of Clarkson-commit Grady Cram (RHP/IF 2019), one of team’s top hurlers to save the victory.  Only one of the three runs allowed was earned.

Wayland vs Concord-Carlisle 5.13.19

By Cameron Plank
PBR New England Scout

Gavin Moser INF / Wayland, MA / 2020

Report: 6-foot, 175 -pound right-handed hitting infielder. A very athletic SS that has the ability to excel at the next level. Does a great job of getting his head behind the baseball when fielding GB. Strong arm across diamond and makes hard plays look easy. At the plate he keeps his hands inside the ball and goes with the pitch. His ability to hit the ball up the middle makes him a top of the lineup guy. Could put on some muscle but overall is good prospect.
