SCOUT NOTES

2021 LHP/OF Matthew Potts (Deer Park) PBA Stars
The uncommitted long arm lefty was fun to watch. Had mound presence with confident body language. Features a crossfire delivery working around his lead leg creating tough angles, very reminiscent to the way Madison Bumgarner pitches. The fastball was 79-80 and at times had ASR away from RHHs & cutting action when he goes in. He had a good curveball anywhere from 63-69 that he would throw in any count. Potts is an athletic kid that also hits at the top of the order. Really good-looking swing and smoked a double to LCF to help his own cause.

2020 RHP Charlie Taylor (Montgomery HS) Twelve Baseball
At 6’1” 170lbs the uncommitted Taylor is an intriguing arm that has some upside on the mound. Medium length arm swing with a whippy loose arm action, finishes pitches with extension out front. Showed body control and was good directional down the mound. Worked at a fast tempo, wasting no time between pitches. Showed control for two good pitches and attacked hitters all game. Fastball was 80-83 bumped an 84, with a big curveball that was 70-73 with good action on it. Expect some jumps in velo as he continues to fill out.

2020 SS Roman Thompson (Lubbock Trinity Christian HS) Fort Worth Cats
The uncommitted Thompson is a top of the order bat and a solid defender with the versatility to play multiple positions. Uses a small leg kick for timing and has a short swing with a slight uppercut which allows him to match the downward plane of the pitch to make hard contact. Jumped all over a first pitch fastball on Saturday for a homerun to deep left center.
