For the next two weeks we will roll out our Preseason Power 25. Three staff members voted on their version of the thirty best teams in the Preseason Power 25, with a possibility of 90 total vote points for each team. We will release three teams per day for the first week and then move to two teams per day once we reach the Top 10 next week. Voting for preseason teams centers more around the depth of talent on that team, as well as where it stacks up within their region/area, as opposed to strictly predicting schedule outcomes.

Generally, larger schools and classifications have a greater depth of player talent on roster. However, once the season begins and records begin to take shape, the Power 25 will be adjusted as needed. In addition to that, we will debut our Private School Top 10 around April 1st and Small School Top 10 around mid-April.

Starting off the Preseason Power 25, coming in at the 25th spot is a program that is returning to its old ways. The once dominant power out of the Charlottesville area has brought the talent back to the program. Youthful, athletic, and have some arms who have a chance to lead the Saints back to the VISAA tournament.

#25: St. Anne's Belfield

2023 saw some highs and lows for the Saints of St. Anne’s Belfield. With that being said, it was a very encouraging year with all of the youth that lies within that program. STAB returns all nine starters, six arms, and adds some very intriguing new faces, including Ryan Steeper. Alex Bingler (JMU), Townes Peper, Oscar Hickey, and Gavin Cunningham (Mary Washington) should be big inning guys on the mound, and add Steeper into that mix. Sumner Solomon was an All-State outfielder in 2023 and provides plenty of firepower for the Saints offense. Will Yow and Charlie Pausic are names to know in the infield for STAB. Second year starter Brooks Fox will be back behind the plate in ‘24 and has added some physicality that translates into the offense. While the STAB offense still has some growing to do and experience to gain, expect the arms to be able to carry the load at times while the bats continue to mature.

Final Thoughts:
"Bingler can be the front end arm that they have been missing. Pair him with Peper and the rest of the quality depth behind them and STAB has the ability to navigate their schedule. The positional talent is still fairly young, but they have some experience since most contributed heavily as freshmen last year. The potential key factor may be is if Sumner Solomon can produce a year like he did in 2023."
