Nate Rohlicek, RHP, Chandler, 2019
Rohlicek worked through 5 errors in the top of the 1st inning, but showed potential to be a top uncommitted 2019 in Arizona. The RHP should gather quite a bit of interest in the next few weeks due to his projectability. At an athletic 6’1165-pounds, he is still growing, growing 2 inches in the past year. Even with projectability, the present stuff is there in flashes, his fastball works up to 86 with late life down in the zone. Add his late life to the angles he creates throwing across his body, the fastball will play up even more as he stays away from the middle of the plate. He also flashed an above average breaking ball with sweeping action at times, but struggled with the consistency of the pitch. His change up is similar in terms of showing flashes of a quality pitch, throwing it with good arm speed, creating swings and misses.
Jacob Hanna, RHP, Mesa, 2019
Hanna impressed with his pitchability and was matched with intensity and being extremely competitive. The 6’1 200-pound strong frame RHP worked his fastball up to 86 MPH from a high ¾ slot, creating good downhill plane. Hanna located his fastball very well throughout his outing, working in and out to both lefties and righties. Chandler didn’t have many comfortable swings, as Hanna was constantly moving their feet and coming up and in. He features two off speed pitches, rarely missing above the knees. The change up was in the upper 70s out of the same slot and arm speed as his fastball, throwing it to both righties and lefties. The breaking ball was in the low 70s with late break and depth, mainly to righties. Hanna has a high floor, making for the arm that everybody needs in their program because you know what you’re going to get.
