OK 2024 Class Rankings Update: Fall Edition

Scott Hood
OK State Director

The Senior class has finished their final High School Fall slate and we take an updated look at the rankings for the class.  With some of the high-end talent in this particular class, there is a substantial amount of draft buzz with multiple prospects and plenty more with the type of potential to work themselves into the conversation.  While the draft will play itself out throughout the Spring and Summer, there are plenty of other intriguing storylines heading into the 2024 class' final campaign.  We take a closer look at a few prospects that saw their stock rise in the past couple of months, dive deeper into two of the top newcomers to the rankings, and finally a look at a couple of remaining uncommitted prospects that should require some attention from schools at the next level.

*We are constantly on the lookout for commitments from prospects throughout the entire 2024 class.  If we have missed one please feel free to reach out so we can get that added to the database

RANKINGS RISERS

Kash Ferris RHP / OF / Carl Albert , OK / 2024

Ferris sees a big jump in the rankings moving up 5 spots to number 6 overall in this update.   The OSU commit put together a strong performance at our event two weeks ago that saw the fastball starting to make a jump into the lower 90's more consistently, and paired it nicely with the feel to spin two shapes of breaking balls.  Ferris has always shown high pitachability and now with added velocity and a tightened up arsenal, Ferris has the current stuff and projectability to consider himself one of the more elite arms in the class.

Cale Sudderth 1B / OF / Lone Grove , OK / 2024

Sudderth has only continued to see his stock rise in the past couple of months moving up again in the rankings from number 17 to number 9 in this update.  Sudderth has always shown raw potential on the mound and has really turned the corner in the past couple of months with more polish and increases in velocity.  The OSU commit is now pounding fastballs into the low 90's and with his athleticism it would be no shock to continue to see that continue to make big jumps in the near future.

Brendan Asher RHP / 3B / Bartlesville, OK / 2024

Asher is another pitching prospect that has always shown high levels of competiveness and pitchability on the mound.  In previous outings we saw of him he showed the ability to handle elite lineups and navigate his way deep into games thanks to a low to mid 80's sinking fastball and feel for shaping the breaking ball in the zone.  Asher has now started to to make a big jump in velocity and stuff with the fastball working in the 87-90 range this fall with his usual tough sink and strong ability to pound the strike zone which would land him a commitment at Oral Roberts for next spring and a huge jump in our rankings from 61st to 18th on this list.  Asher has been on a similar trajectory of former Bruin and now ORU front-man Jakob Hall and it would not be surpring to see him have the same levels of success at the next level.

Briggs Roe SS / RHP / Morrison, OK / 2024

Not many players have seen their stock rise in the past couple of months than Briggs Roe from Morrison.  We began to hear reports about him in the summer time where he was starting to make a jump and word defintely traveled quickly as he was one of the hotter uncommitted names heading into the fall.  Roe continued to impress through the past few months that saw him land a commitment to Kansas State as well as see a big jump in our rankings moving 30 spots up since our last update.  What stands out most about Roe is his high end ability to handle the bat paired with an elite use of the lower half in the swing.  With those two combined, Roe has shown sneaky pop with a structured swing that should be able to compete at the next level.

Lane Kirkpatrick SS / RHP / Norman North, OK / 2024

Kirkpatrick was one of our bigger standouts from the Uncommitted Upperclass Games earlier this month.  With his strong performance throuhgout the workout, Kirkpatrick sees his stock rise 56 spots in this update.  The uncommitted infielder from Norman North has enough athleticism and quick twitch in his actions and swing that should play up at the next level.  The swing shows strong balance and the hands work quickly through the zone allowing him to have a strong line drive approach and with his 6.88 speed it should translate into a lot of extra base hits.  Defensively he shows strong actions with feel for routes and soft hands.

TOP NEWCOMERS

Cooper Howe RHP / 3B / Moore, OK / 2024

Howe established himself as one of the top currently uncommitted prospects in the state after a big showing at the Uncommitted Upperclass Games.  Howe enters the rankings for the first time at number 48 on the list thanks to a fastball working to 86.4 and serious riding life through the zone.  Howe also shows feel for a fading changeup and can spin the upper 70's curveball in the mid 2300's.  Standing at 6-foot-1 and 180-pounds, Howe has an athletic delivery and the type of hand speed that should continue to deliver big jumps in the near future and should be one for schools looking to add arms to their 2024 class to add to their recruiting boards.

Dalton Barrington 3B / OF / BERRYHILL HS, OK / 2024

Barrington was another big performer at the Uncommitted Upperclass games that saw him show a strong skill set and athleticism landing him a spot at number 69 in the rankings.  Barrington is able to ge the most out of his 5-foot-9 and 165-pound frame with strong rotation and bat speed in the swing to generate exit velocities up to 91.4 mph.  He also showed strong defensive actions with clean glove work and enough arm strength to remain on the left side of the infield in the future.  His sub 7 second speed and already strong skills makes him a prime candidate for schools at the next level still looking for infielders in the 2024 class.

UNCOMMITTED PROSPECTS TO KEEP AN EYE ON

Brody Wicker 2B / RHP / Ponca City, OK / 2024

Wicker has been a well-known commodity for awhile now out of Ponca City and the recruiting buzz on him makes him one of the more desirable prospects left in the 2024 class.  Wicker provides both a power element with the bat in his hands and big potential on the mound giving teams at the next level a ton of potential options in how to deploy his skills.

Easton Costa RHP / Choctaw High School, OK / 2024

Costa returns to Choctaw for his senior campaign as one of the highest ranked remaining uncommitted arms in the class.  Costa has shown the ability to work the fastball in our looks at him in the upper 80's and with his larger frame he projects as a starter at the next level.  The ball jumps easy out of his hand and we would not be shocked to see him make yet another jump during the spring campaign.

Bodie Amberson C / SS / Owasso , OK / 2024

Amberson checks in at number 49 in this update and is one of the more productive hitters left remaining uncommitted in the 2024 class.  Amberson has a smooth stroke from the right side showing some signs of pop at times and extra base projectabililty.  He has proven himself as a tough out in the middle of the Rams' order and should be another one for teams at the next level looking to pick up a solid bat to take a closer look at in the coming weeks and months.

Talon Kendrick OF / Stillwater, OK / 2024

Kendrick has the size and build that everyone is looking for in a corner outfielder at the next level and has the type of strength in the hands that could translate into above average power.  Standing now at 6-foot-2 and 210-pounds, Kendrick checks a lot of the athletic and physical boxes with his above average running times (6.87) for his size and strong bat speed that allows him to routinely hit balls in the mid 90's off the bat.  Don't be surprised to see a breakout season from Kendrick this spring and should be one for schools at the next level to take notice in looking to fill potential power bat outfield spots.
