Today was the Ontario Blue Jays organizational workout and scout day at Vero Beach and the historic Dodgertown complex. Players from their 18, 17, and 16u teams went through 60’s and had batting practice prior to their doubleheaders. I was able to catch a lot of the 16u team, as I wanted to see the young 2016’s and 2017’s in game action. They also had some legit arms going in the likes of Jack Berczi, Noah Skirrow, and Jordan Balazovic.
Trying to zone in on upcoming invites for the Futures Game later this summer, I was intent on getting a good grasp on the upcoming youngsters from the OBJ camp. The 2015’s will get all kinds of play with this being their draft year, and am sure to see a lot of them before June rolls around. That said, I was still able to see a few of the older guys and received some good feedback from the scouts that 10 plus scouts and recruiters that were in attendance.
Below we take a look at some of the highlights from the day at Dodgertown:
60 YARD DASH
Was a slow track today, thick wet grass early in the morning. Not the fastest times some of these players have produced, but still good opportunity to see them outside instead of the indoor 40 yards that most guys have to run in Ontario.
