On Wednesday, our staff took in a scout day with the back to back state champion, Hanover Hawks. See some video and notes on four players from the Hanover High School program.

Brady Elrod OF / RHP / Hanover, VA / 2026Listed at 6-foot, 175-pounds. Long and lean with proportional strengtht that translates into his game. Wider base, slight crouch, short quick hand load, and can really turn the barrel. I think the wider base cuts down a touch on some of the power potential, but the swing has minimal moving parts and he can still generate some solid extra base power. Above average hand speed, above average bat speed, and the juice usually plays to the pull side. Arm strength in center and it is a functional arm. Clean exchange, gets it out the hand, and works low through the cut. The run tool appears to be at the least above average and will get a better gauge on that at the beginning of November at the State Games.

Mark Holt OF / Hanover, VA / 2025Holt had some of the best BP on the day. Narrow and upright, some hand movement that creates some rhythm into the load, and head stays in the middle as he strides forward and on line. The physical strength, especially in the arms and shoulders, is easy to see. It is a heavy barrel and it just produces loud contact with carry from gap to gap. In game, Holt had a loud flyout to right center field. He did a nice job staying inside at contact and was not afraid to use the backside gap. While the defense and position projection is still a work in progress, Holt is a physical bat that has a chance to be an impact bat for the Hawks this spring.

Tavis Spiller SS / 2B / Hanover , VA / 2024Left handed hitting infielder with above average arm strength and the ability to stay on the left side. Average run tool that would potentially keep him off of shortstop at the next level, but more than capable defender at third base. Hands work, creates direction into the catch, and has carry across the field. Some slight uphill path to the swing and hands stay inside at contact. Creates some length out front and showcases quick hands through the zone. Jumped on the mound for some short relief. Raw arm strength, longer arm swing, and the fastball has some arm side run. The fastball sat 84-86 (T87) and showed a changeup at 75 mph. Positional guy first with some potential on the mound, simply because of the arm strength.

TJ Woodson SS / RHP / Hanover , VA / 2025The first thing that jumps about the Baylor commit is his defense. There is just an instinctiveness to his game. High IQ, always seems to be in the right position, and makes the tough ones look easy. (Don't think I will ever forget the play he made at Future Games while carrying into foul territory at third base and throwing a batter-runner out at first base and just looked like it was another routine play.) The run tool has improved, his instincts, and sure-handed playmaking give him the ability to stay at short. The offense has always been second, and while it still is, it continues to make strides. Rhythm in the load, stretches into separation, and showed an improved ability to get the barrel turned with some authority. Had the most balls at 90+ mph in BP (T95) and three balls at 337+ feet (T353').
