Clarkson Ks 11 to Lead Mesquite over Seton Catholic

Utah commit TJ Clarkson set the tone in the 1st inning for Mesquite, striking out the side and never looked back. The Wildcats scored two in the bottom half after Holden Breeze got things going with a leadoff walk. Breeze eventually scored on an RBI walk by Jayden Orozco and scored another on RBI groundout from Daniel Johnson.
GCU commit Luke Bell struggled in the 2nd, with his night ending after 1.2+ innings. His velo was significantly lower than usual, working at 81-83 which didn’t bode well against a deep Mesquite offense. The Wildcats recorded 4 straight hits with Grant Gorrell driving in the 3rd run of the game, Clarkson followed suit doing the same and Davis Heller ended the night for Bell with a sac fly to make it 5-0.
The 4th inning for Mesquite started off with two outs but ended up getting a 2-strike single by Heller, who was driven in by a double from Orozco.
Clarkson finally showed a little bit of wearing down in the 6th, walking two hitters and giving up the two total runs Seton Catholic would score. Mike Kenney drove in the first run after walks by Patrick Kossler and Ryan Johnson. Ben Harmeyer was able to get the 2nd run in with an RBI grounout to second base, which ended Clarkson’s night.
