Uncommitted Spotlight: '24 OF AJ Ljepava

The Uncommitted Spotlight Series continues as the calendar has turned over and the start of the '24 CIF High School baseball season is quickly approaching we are highlighting some of the top uncommitted class of '24 athletes. The players featured are pulled directly from our '24 Class Rankings and remain as the top players left on the board going into the start of their senior season.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our PBR California staff of scouts and the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance, and Visual Edge provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a NorCal '24 LHH OF AJ Ljepava out of Los Gatos HS. Smaller framed at 5'11 157 lbs. with explosiveness to his athleticism Ljepava flashes average to above average tools across the board. With the foot speed, burst and actions to stick in CF Ljepava has an intriguing profile when you add in his LH bat with top of the order potential. The swing is quick with a good turn of the lower half and allows his hands to work in the bat path. He stays balanced in lower half through contact while maximizing his bodies potential to generate good impact at contact (92.6 MPH max exit velocity with an average 88 MPH exit velocity). Bat path shows leverage with a line drive approach to the middle of the field. Offensively, he projects as an advanced bat to ball hitter who will tap into doubles power to the gaps with fringey HR power to the pull side. With the athletic ability and defensive profile to play a premium defensive position while adding offensive impact Ljepava should be a name that 4-year and JUCO coaches are following closely this spring.

California State Games - In one of the games, Ljepava (L/L) had the opportunity to show his prowess as a defender in centerfield and he absolutely capitalized on that opportunity. He was running down balls from gap to gap and deep into a BIG centerfield. It got so ridiculous to the point of players on the field audibly saying, 'HIT IT TO SOMEONE ELSE!' He's a good runner, not a burner, but good enough with those jumps and angles and anticipation, not to mention how he shades hitters pre-pitch. The arm is adequate. Offensively he's got a slashing stroke with a quick bat. He's going to get more physical and even so, he's able to produce EV over 90 mph.
