The 2024 MSHSAA District playoffs are set to start tomorrow, May 10th, for Classes 1-through-4, with the Class 5 and Class 6 bracket kicking off next week. From now until then, teams across the state will compete for an opportunity to capture a District crown and punch their ticket to Sectionals, and ultimately a spot in Ozark. 

Over the next few days, our staff will be previewing each District for Class 5 and Class 6. Here are the Districts we have previewed so far: 

+ Class 6, District 8
+ Class 6, District 7

Below you’ll learn more about Class 6, District 6 and its outlook with the playoffs set to start next week.

+ Since the calendar turned from March to April, few teams in the state have been hotter than Glendale (23-5). Fresh to Class 6 this spring, the Falcons have lost one time since March 30th, having won 18 of their last 19 games and seven in a row. The Ozark Conference champs really turned heads when they took down Rock Bridge and Francis Howell on the same day in a double header, but they’ve also beat Webb City, Nixa, Liberty, Ozark, and West Plains this spring in an impressive resume. With an offense that’s a tough out from top to bottom and several experienced strike-throwers on the mound, Glendale’s rightfully earned the top seed in this District and should be a force once again come postseason play. 

+ Republic (18-14) is a scrappy bunch that went to the semi-finals in this District last spring and will enter next week as the No. 2 this year. They’re certainly battle tested, scheduling multiple tough opponents throughout the spring to have themselves ready for the playoff run. With a true ace in Caide White (2024; Central Arkansas) and a formidable middle-of-the-order that features Garrett Lester (2024; MidAmerica Nazarene), Trace Harrington (2024; SIUE), Devon Hughes (2024), and Jackson Overstreet (2025) look for the Tigers to be a tough out in this District. 

+ Nixa (20-14) made a trip to Ozark last spring, finishing fourth overall in the state to cap off a highly impressive 32-8 season. This year’s Eagles’ club returns multiple key members from that group and, while their record isn’t the same, the Eagles have played a highly competitive schedule that includes multiple ranked teams both in Missouri and other states. They’ve beaten several quality opponents, with their best wins of the spring coming against Liberty North, Lee’s Summit West, Logan-Rogersville, Webb City, and Eureka. The three seed in this District, the Eagles have the talent and playoff experience to push them deep into the playoffs. 

+ Ozark (17-17) checks in as the fourth seed in this District. The Tigers have a power arm in Cooper Pumphrey (2025; Mizzou) that gives them a shot to beat anyone on any given day, and names like Hudson Roberts (2025; Arkansas) and Gannon Miller (2025) are staples in the middle of this lineup. 

+ Kickapoo (15-20), Carthage (16-16), Neosho (9-22), and Joplin (7-21) round out the final four seeds in this District.
