High School: Mountain Pointe
Coach: Max Pincus
AIA Classification: 5A
Conference: San Tan

In the world of Arizona high school baseball, Mountain Pointe High School, a 5A school in the San Tan Conference, is gearing up for a redemption story under the seasoned leadership of Head Coach Max Pincus. After a challenging 2023 season where they fell short of the playoff cut with an 11-7 record, the Pride are set to make a resounding comeback, according to insights from the PBR Arizona staff.

The heart of this resurgence lies in the solid returning core that Mountain Pointe boasts. Leading the charge is right-handed pitcher Brett Crossland, a towering figure at 6-feet-6 inches. Committed to playing college baseball at the prestigious University of Texas, Crossland is not just a local standout but the No. 1 prospect in Arizona for the 2025 class. Known for his powerful arm, Crossland's fastball clocks in the mid-90s, complemented by a breaking ball that reaches high levels of effectiveness. While occasional control issues have surfaced, the young pitcher's potential to dominate on the mound is undeniable. When Crossland finds his rhythm, he transforms into an unhittable force, setting the stage for excitement in the upcoming season.

Beyond the pitching mound, Mountain Pointe boasts a roster of returning players who promise to play pivotal roles in the team's resurgence. Starting shortstop Cole Rogers, a participant in the 2022 Future Games in Atlanta, Georgia, stands out as a high-level athlete with a reliable glove up the middle. Rogers' defensive prowess adds a crucial layer to the Pride's strategy, offering stability and skill in the infield.

Another key player in Mountain Pointe's arsenal is corner infielder Connor Crossland, who recently committed to Gateway. With a standout performance in the 2022 Future Games, Crossland showcased eye-opening power from the right side of the plate. His offensive capabilities add depth to the team's lineup, providing a formidable presence in crucial moments.

As Mountain Pointe High School sets its sights on the upcoming season, there's a palpable sense of anticipation and determination. The Pride, armed with a mix of experienced players and rising stars, are ready to rewrite their narrative and make a significant impact in the highly competitive Arizona high school baseball scene. The stage is set for Mountain Pointe to reclaim their spot among the elite, and under the guidance of Head Coach Max Pincus, the journey to redemption promises to be one filled with excitement.
