The calendar has flipped to 2024 and with the summer season on the horizon, Prep Baseball - Alberta will be making its rounds to facilities and practices looking for those players who have made the jump and improved over the offseason. Our staff will be putting together weekly Scouting Blogs to highlight those players who are seeking to make an impact when their season kicks off.

Scout Blog - January 29th to February 2nd

Ben Simmons C / 3B / Vauxhall, AB / 2025

Simmons had a very strong start to his Vauxhall tenure in the fall. He was one of their better hitters and stood out at their Scout Day on both sides of the ball. He has a strong and accurate arm behind the dish, popping 1.90 and reaching 76 mph. During BP, Simmons has a swing path that allows him to elevate the ball, staying back up the middle and to his pull-side gap. Simmons has also made a jump this offseason adding strength to his 6-foot-0, 190-pound frame. With Vauxhall having plenty of turnover on the offensive side of the ball, Simmons will look to step in and make an impact right away.

Jaxon George 3B / RHP / Riverside education Center, AB / 2026

Another 1st year catcher for Vauxhall is 2026 Jaxon George. He showed off his bat-to-ball ability last fall in-game as well as at the Vauxhall Scout Day, in which 11 of his 17 batted balls were 90+ mph and elevated to all fields. He utilizes a strong lower half to generate torque and bat speed to drive the ball with authority while staying in control and balanced. As the 4th ranked player in Alberta’s 2026 class, George will look to contribute on both sides of the ball despite being one of the younger players on a talented Vauxhall team.

Aaron Fuzesy 3B / RHP / Vauxhall, AB / 2025

Fuzesy is one of the top uncommitted 2025s in Alberta. The reason for this is his ability to contribute on both sides of the ball. In the box, the 5-foot-10, 185-pound RHH shows current strength and the ability to maintain controlled aggression. At Vauxhall’s Scout Day last fall, his strength at the dish was on full display reaching a max exit velocity of 99.2 mph, elevating deep to his pull-side and hitting multiple balls out. On the mound Fuzesy has been up to 88 mph with the fastball that carries up in the zone. His slider has plenty of horizontal break (11.3 inches) and the changeup has late ASR (13.8 inches). With the added growth and development from the offseason, Fuzesy will be looking to make a name for himself as one of the top 2025s on the West Coast.

Tyson Kajmowicz RHP / 3B / Central Memorial high school, AB / 2026

Kajmowicz is an intriguing 2026 that caught our eye when we visited the Calgary Blues facility. The long limbs and stature, 6-foot-4 175-pounds, immediately stood out. He utilizes his frame and extends down the mound well. The repertoire is still developing, led by a slider that has 2-plane break and profiles as a swing & miss offering when located down in the zone. The fastball has been up into the low 80s and pairs well with the slider. Kajmowicz will be playing up with the 18U Premier Blues this coming summer and will look to make an immediate impact.
