The PBR NE Fall Review event took place on Sunday, November 4, 2018. The event was held at Ultimate Baseball Academy in Omaha, NE.

The event was exclusive to 2019, 2020, 2021 & 2022 grads- from Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota-  who participated in the last Prep Baseball Report Nebraska event of the fall. 

Players showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and college coaches in attendance. Thank you to the players, parents, my staff; along with the staff at Ultimate Baseball Academy for such a great event.

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the PBR NE Fall Review  event.

Scouting Reports 

 

Tyler Cate 2B / SS / Omaha Burke, NE / 2019

 

5-foot-10, 155 pound middle infielder ran a 4.04 home to first. Lean athletic frame. Open stance, easy smooth load, short stride, lower half stays inline, good balance through the ball at contact. Barrel is quick through the zone, all fields line drive approach, short path to the ball, fluid rhythm. Posted an 81 mph exit velocity off a tee.  Easy actions in the infield, works through the ball, quick transfers to ¾ release. Threw accurately across topping out at 73 mph across.


 

 

 

Camden Smith C / OF / Sioux City Heelan, IA / 2020

5-foot-9, 155 pound catcher ran a 3.92 home to 1st. Small frame with some present strength in frame. Balanced slight crouch set up. Choppy load, leg kick stride, lower half has tendency to collapse. Fast flat barrel path through the zone. Ground ball contact during round of BP. Some stiffness in finish. Posted an 81 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.26-2.71 range. Slightly offset high set up behind the plate. Arm action is long, stabs at pitches, shows stiffness. Topped out at 76 mph from the outfield.  

 

 

 

Michael Radford RHP / SS / Glenwood, IA / 2019

 

6-foot, 160 pound two way player topped out at 80 mph with his fastball mid ¾ arm slot. Average arm speed, backside is long and free, controlled balance point, some effort in delivery. Smooth rhythm, stays in line with athletic finish. Fastball has slight sink action, commanded the zone. 10/4 shaped breaking ball with gradual break. Feel for change up with straight action, consistently down in the zone. 4.32 home to first runner. Slightly open crouched stance, loads back, short stride, loads over lower half, tendency to get stuck on backside. Avg. bat speed through the zone, level barrel path. Line drive and ground ball contact during round of BP. Posted an 80 mph exit velocity. Corner actions in the infield, hands and feet work, gets through the ball. Quick exchange to extended arm action. Topped out at 75 mph across the infield.  

 

 

 

Keaton Hartman OF / RHP / Sioux Falls Roosevelt, SD / 2020

 

6-foot, 160 pound two way player ran a 4.06 home to first. Athletic lean build. Open crouched stance, leg kick load, okay balanced lower half, barrel gets on plane, hard contact to the pull side, some swagger in approach. Posted an 82 mph exit velocity off a tee. Above average arm from the outfield, topped out at 89 mph with looseness and athleticism in approach. Topped out at 82 mph on the mound, from a mid ¾ delivery. Arm works but sporadic hip swing in loses velocity in delivery. 10/6 shaped breaking ball for strikes, sharp break.  Arm side run on 70-71 mph breaking ball. Mostly down in the zone.  

 

 

Jake Renner 2B / SS / Louisville, NE / 2020

5-foot-8, 170 pound infielder ran a 4.05 home to first. Compact physical build. Open stance, easy load to slight arm bar, short stride, okay lower half, good balance through swing. Linear barrel path, pullside approach, line drive and ground ball contact during round of BP.  Posted an 81 mph exit velocity off a tee. Corner actions in the infield, works to the ball and through, no rush in release, extra tap in release, topped out 70 mph across the infield.


 

 

 

 

Jake Roberts C / OF / Omaha Central, NE / 2020

6-foot, 183 pound catcher ran a 4.03 home to first. Lean athletic build with long levers. Balance square stance at the the plate, leg kick trigger, easy load, low ½ explodes through the baseball. Mostly worked to the middle of the field with line drive contact. Flashed the ability to square up the baseball consistently. Posted an 90 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate topped out at 80 mph to second base, threw to 2nd in the 2.07-2.21 range.  Showed a strong ability to receive pitches during bullpens sessions, sound blocker, strong wrists. Strong catching prospect for the 2020 class in Nebraska.  

 

 

 

Will Schneidewind C / 1B / Omaha Burke, NE / 2019

 6-foot-1, 175 pound catcher ran a 4.07 home to first. Open stance, short stride, easy hand load, compact barrel path that is quick to ball. Pull side approach, good balance and low half. Posted an 80 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.11-2.24 range. Square set up, some upper body sway, okay funneling lower strikes, handles glove side well. Average blocker.

 

 

 

Brayden Bock C / 3B / Elkhorn, NE / 2020

 6-foot, 185 pound infielder topped out at 82 mph across the infield. Ranked #49 in the Nebraska 2020 rankings. Athletic build. Open stance, arm bar load, leg kick triggers, long aggressive slight uphill barrel path. Hard contact when on time. Some swagger in approach, posted an 92 mph exit velocity off a tee. Projects to a corner spot in the infield, feet and hands work, max effort long and extended arm action, extra taps in release.

 

 

 

Cade Baker C / RHP / Norris, NE / 2020

5-foot-11, 200 pound two way player topped out at 82 mph with his fastball. High ¾ arm slot, average arm speed with compact arm action on the backside with a slight hitch and long out-front. Controlled balanced point with easy rhythm. Stays inline to home plate with square athletic landing. Cut action. 12/6 shaped breaking ball with feel for the zone, sharp break. Some fade action on change up. Square balanced stance, quite hands, leg kick trigger, balanced finish with controlled lower half. Pull side approach. Posted an 86 mph exit velocity off a tee. Threw to 2nd in the 2.02-2.16 range. Square stance, quite movements, above average receiver, blocks well.  

 

 

 

Thad Kottich 1B / RHP / Papillion LaVista, NE / 2019

 6-foot-2, 175 pound two way player topped out at 77 mph with his fastball. High ¾ arm slot, arm is long on the backside and out-front. Rushes balance point, some rhythm in delivery, uphill shoulders, lands open, tendency to fall off to his glove side. Slightly open balanced set up, easy load, okay balance, works to the middle of the field with line drive contact. Posted an 78 mph exit velocity off a tee. Average actions at first base, topped out at 73 mph across the infield.
