By Mike Maerz

This past weekend the Orlando Scorpions held their 2016 Fall Tryouts which showcased over 300 players either previously with the Orlando Scorpions or some looking to make a team in the fall.

On Friday, pitchers threw bullpen sessions in front of college coaches and scouts, while on Saturday position players went through a pro-style workout which included batting practice and I/O. Below are some of the standouts/pitchers seen during bullpens from the 2017 class from Friday and Saturday which includes reports on several players and notes on others.

Joshua Crouch, OF/3B, Sebring HS, FL
-Strong, athletic, build with a loose body. Toolsy player who displayed strong, accurate on line throws with carry from the outfield during I/O. Charges the ball and has a good first step. At the plate, has an open stance with a short, quick swing. Makes consistent contact and drove the ball deep into the gaps during batting practice, also showing the ability to put the ball over the fence.

Tim Elko, 1B/3B, Hillsborough HS, FL
-Strong body with loose hands in the box. Balanced, comfortable, and has an easy swing with a good approach. Consistently squared the ball up during batting practice and used all of the field as he hit lines drives all over the place, including some strong line drives the opposite way. Showed some power and the ability to drive the ball with authority. Mississippi recruit.

Jack Leftwich, RHP, Next Level Baseball Academy, FL
-Physical, solid, athletic build with a good presence on the mound during his bullpen. Easy, clean, quick arm action and gets good extension out in front as his fastball sat 90-91 mph with life, touching 92. Hard slider with good bite as it sat 79-81 mph along with an 82 mph change up. Confident. Florida recruit.

Jake Molle, C, University HS, FL
-Took a really solid round of batting practice as he hit hard line drives all over the field, including a couple deep ones into the gaps. Strong wrists, looks comfortable in the box. Quick transfer behind the plate with strong, accurate throws down to second base. Pop times were in the 1.89-1.93 second range. Central Florida recruit.
