Covenant Day Dominates to Setup Big Week

Covenant Day entered the week needing a sweep to keep pace with Providence Day in the NCISAA Charlotte Conference.  A win on Friday would give Covenant Day a 1 game lead and setup a big 2 game series with Providence Day to decide the conference champion.

The Lions took their opportunity and jumped out quickly, scoring in each of their 4 at-bats, building a 7-0 lead after 2 innings.  The run support would be plenty for starting pitcher James Cosper as he fired a complete game, 5 inning, 3 hitter.

The Lions were led at the plate by Will Boyce and Aiden Myers who each homered and accounted for 6 of the teams 11 runs.

Cannon School threatened to extend the game in the 3rd when Mason Mierzwa homered to left but Cosper continued to attack and trust his defense, limiting the chances for the Cougars.

Providence Day and Covenant Day will play on TUE and FRI of this week with Covenant Day needing 1 win to clinch the conference championship, as long as they take care of a makeup game this SAT vs. CLT Country Day.
