Quick Hitters: 2023 Carolina Senior Games West - Pitchers

Brandon Hall
Mid-Atlantic Scouting Director

PBR was at Catawba College on Sunday October 22, 2023 for the Carolina Senior Games West.  This was the 2nd of a two part Senior Games series with North Carolina and South Carolina 2024 graduates putting their best foot forward as we close in on the early signing period for this year's senior class.  Position players arrived first going through some agility and athletic testing with Swift Athletics, followed by multiple rounds of live BP on the game field at Catawba.  After BP, position players worked through their defensive positions in the pre-game setting.  As the workout portion of the day concluded, the players readied for an 8 inning scrimmage with live arms throwing.

PBR Scouts were very impressed with the roster on hand for the Carolina Senior Games West.  Many of these players will be given the chance to play at the next level and many may make a quick impression once they arrive on campus.  As PBR breaks down results of the workout and game play, we will be working through several leader boards and scout note blogs to bring information to college coaches and baseball fans that are following the 2024 class.

Quick Hitters - Pitchers

Aaron Main, RHP, Gaston Christian, 2024
Up to 83.6 with sink metric, including averaging 13.2in of run out of the hand. Showed feel for three pitches, giving him the ability to attack hitters in a variety of ways.

Aiden Holmes, RHP, Pine Forest HS, 2024
Lean frame with long limbs. Heavy mix included slider that spun up to 2410rpm.  Solid arm speed. As direction and timing clean, and he continues to mature the frame, we should see stuff tick up.

Cody Hughes, RHP, Jordan HS, 2024
Strong arm with solid arm speed.  Worked 83-87, touching 88.6 with an average spin of 2096rpm.  Sink metrics with 1:45 spin tilt at release. 13.5in of run out of the hand. Slider has tight, late action at 74-78, 1959rpm.

Jameson Hodges, RHP, Watauga HS, 2024
Excellent rhythm and direction.  Clean arm and athletic release. Fastball up to 78.5mph, 2081rpm. Paired with a slider with short, darting action at 69-71, 2116rpm.

Silas Kennedy, RHP, Central Davidson HS, 2024
Large frame. Average direction. Lots of trust in the fastball with sink and run at 75-77, 1824rpm. Averaged 14in of run to the arm side. Cutter is late with very short action.  Showed feel for a change-up.

Trey Handy, LHP, East Wilkes HS, 2024
Long arm action and ¾ slot created heavy run, max out at 22in out of the hand.  Fastball peaked at 78.9mph, 2125rpm. Good feel for a change-up working out of a similar window as the fastball.

William Greenway, RHP, Myers Park HS, 2024
Fastball - Slider combination that is ready to give hitters at the next level issues.  Simple delivery with good rhythm and direction.  Athletic arm with solid arm speed through a high-¾ slot.  Fastball peaked at 86.6, 2437rpm.  Plays true with sink metrics. Slider has 10/4 tilt, late and explosive at times at 74-80, 2199rpm.

Zak Stear, RHP, Cleveland HS, 2024
Simple delivery with feel for 3 pitches. Fastball peaked at 76.7, 1920rpm. Used a mix. Slider up to 67.4, 2291rpm. Athletic presence with good direction.
