The 2024 WIAA 3A State Tournament begins with regional action this Saturday, May 18th. 16 teams will compete at 4 various 'regional' sites in a single elimination bracket that will ultimately send 4 teams to Pasco, WA for the Semi-Finals and Finals. 

The opening round "play-in" game already pushed 4 additional teams into the Final 16.

#14 Kentlake, #17 Mercer Island, #18 Southridge and #20 Bishop Blanchet were victorious on Tuesady, May 14th

Semi-Final actions begins on Friday, May 24th with the winners advancing to play for the State Championship on Saturday, May 25th.

Kennewick Regional

#9 Stadium vs. #8 Eastside Catholic
#17 Mercer Island vs. #1 Kennewick

Kennewick earned the #1 3A seed after a dominant 21-3 season. They boast an extremely deep lineup, featuring ‘25 SS Dane Chavez and ‘26 OF Dylan Mamiya. ‘24 RHP Leyton Lind will fill up the zone on the mound, and ‘24 C Dane McLure provides a steady presence at the top of the lineup. Mercer Island heads into the matchup after a dominant play-in victory and are led by ‘25 1B Charlie Seneker (William & Mary commit). Stadium and Eastside Catholic should be a great, close affair that can go in either direction. Eastside Catholic are headlined by top talent in ‘25 RHP/OF Will Crain (Washington commit) and 3B/RHP Rowin O’Connor (Gonzaga commit). ‘26 C Ryan Long is an intriguing player that could be key as well. Stadium has benefitted from a heavy senior class en route to their PCL regular season championship.

Lake Washington Regional

#10 Ballard vs. #7 Edmonds-Woodway
#18 Southridge vs. #2 Lake Washington

Coming off of a second place finish in state in 2023, Lake Washington looks to make another push deep into this year’s playoffs. ‘25 LHP Shane Johnson (Washington commit) has continued to impress, while ‘25 Mason Smithwick and ‘26 Kane Nishikawa should also be key factors on the mound. Offensively, ‘24 C Zack Hudson and ‘26 OF Will Cooley will solidify the middle of the lineup. The Kangs will face a Southridge team that is fresh off a dominant play-in game victory over Capital. Southridge has played much better baseball over the second half of the season and will look to carry their momentum into this matchup. ‘24 OF Austin Guier was 1st team All-Conference for MCC and is the most potent bat to keep an eye on while ‘24 Jabari Simon looks to get the ball early after amassing 50+ innings this season. Ballard is headlined by ‘25 C Truitt Madonna (Washington commit), but should also get key contributions from ‘24 Adam Tripp, ‘25 Dylan Wallblom, and ‘24 Chase Edwards on both sides of the ball. This should be a tight matchup against a young Edmonds-Woodway team that features arguably the best freshman duo in the state in ‘27 Grafton Marshall-Inman and ‘27 Declan Crawford. This regional as a whole boasts plenty of talent, and any of these four teams can realistically come out on top and punch their ticket to Pasco.

Mount Vernon Regional 

#11 Mount Spokane vs. #6 Kelso
#14 Kentlake vs. #3 Mount Vernon

Headlined by ‘25 SS/RHP Xavier Neyens (Oregon State commit), the top ranked prospect in the ‘25 class, Mount Vernon enters this regional after a superb regular season campaign. A pair of uncommitted ‘25’s in RHP Brody Olmstead and 3B Dylan Jacobs are poised to make key contributions for the Bulldogs as well. They face a difficult first round matchup in Kentlake, regular season winners of the NPSL. The Falcons are led by the top ‘26 prospect in RHP/SS Christopher Moore (Washington commit). Kelso heads into their matchup with some added confidence after early season victories over several state-bound teams, while Mount Spokane heads to state fresh off of a third place finish in District 8 Playoffs. For Kelso, RHP Bryce Collins has continued to build his case as among the top ‘26 WA prospects and is sure to be an important piece. Mount Spokane will rely on their experience with hopes of making a run, including ‘24 Andrew Recob (Santa Clara commit), ‘24 Cooper Davis (Spokane Falls commit) and ‘24 Sam Davidson (Lower Columbia commit).

Mountlake Terrace Regional

#12 Peninsula vs. #5 West Seattle
#20 Bishop Blanchet vs. #4 Mountlake Terrace

Mountlake Terrace heads into their regional as winners of five straight, including taking home the 3A District 1 Title. Experienced players including ‘24 SS Talan Zenk (Everett CC commit) and ‘24 1B Ethan Swenson (Pacific University commit) pose a threat in the middle of the lineup. The Hawks have leaned on a balanced lineup resulting in an impressive 18-4 season to this point. ‘26 Owen Meek has emerged as an ace this spring and we’d expect him to get the ball early this weekend. They look to stay hot against a Bishop Blanchet team that has won five straight as well. Blanchet has relied on standout starting pitching as of late from ‘26 Noah Duenas and ‘24 Anthony Puckett. The Bears will look to their young bats such as ‘27 William Prinz and ‘26 Tommy Belle to lead the way against Mountlake Terrace. Peninsula also boasts a wealth of young talent, with ‘27 SS Pete Browand having a standout spring in his first season of high school ball. They will face West Seattle, an experienced group ranked #2 overall in state at the start of the season. The Wildcats have played their best baseball as of late and won the Metro League championship to secure their spot in state. There may not be a team in this bracket with more senior talent than West Seattle. The top of the lineup is led by ‘24 OF Tristan Buehring (Whitman commit), ‘24 SS Caden Fahy (Pennsylvania commit), and ‘24 OF Matthew Henning (Washington commit). ‘24 RHP Miles Chandler (Washington State commit) is a power arm that can be a game changer. West Seattle looks poised with this experience to make a run deep into state this year.
