Seattle Preseason ID Session II - Quick Hits

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

On Saturday, Feb. 10th we were at the Mariners Training Center in Puyallup, WA for our second session of the Seattle Preseason ID events. Featuring prospects in the 2024-2028 classes from across the state.

Preseason ID events serve as an identifier heading into the spring high school season, giving our scouts as well as college recruiters, a list of prospects to follow as they plan their spring coverage. We also tend to see prospects’ best performances in the preseason, as most athletes are fresh and coming off of strict and targeted off-season training programs that have resulted in big gains, primed for updating their Prep Baseball profile. All of which lends the perfect opportunity to secure invitations to some of the summer's biggest invite-only events such as the Top Prospect Games, Prep Baseball Future Games, and more.

Here are some ‘Quick Hits’ on the prospects in attendance this past weekend. For more information on a specific player, click their name to visit their individual profile page.

QUICK HITS

SEATTLE PRESEASON ID - 2.10.24

‘25 OF Braden Bartholomae (Skyline)
Always a ‘hitterish’ prospect, Bartholomae is sporting a stronger, more stout athletic frame at 5’10, 170. The added strength is leading to louder offensive output while he continues to get barrel to the ball. Peak EV up to 96 mph now with a consistent approach and line drive ball flight. In the OF, the arm strength is up to 85 mph to pair with his already strong defensive ability to track down the ball. .

‘25 3B Cayden Christopherson (North Creek)
One of the more physically imposing athletes in attendance. At 5’11, 200 lbs, there’s plenty of strength packed into a lean, muscular build. Showed a quiet set up in the box with strong, quick wrists and tight rotation into contact. Capable defender at 3B with size/strength to stick there long-term.

‘26 OF/LHP Bradley Dinelt (Curtis)
Smooth swinging prospect with ability to manipulate the barrel from both sides of the plate. The left-handed swing is especially loose & fluid with a slight uphill approach and natural loft to the stroke. Defensively has easy strides in the OF with a clean, loose arm. FB velocity jumped up to 82.2 mph & there’s more in the tank as he continues to get stronger.

‘26 OF/RHP Nolan Fahey (Tahoma
Fahey improved across the board in all metrics while continuing to maintain smooth and polished actions. Defensively he can handle multiple spots but showed well in the OF on this look with an easy exchange into his throwing motion and a clean arm path. Offensively impacted the ball with more authority from a balanced, upright set-up. On the mound, the body control gives him an easy operation & the FB velo was up to 81.4 mph.

‘26 RHP Keegan Glennon (Sehome)
Strong, compact frame at 5’10, 175. Works with a quick, up tempo delivery with aggressive intent. Stayed tall at leg lift then worked down the slope with level shoulders & an average stride length. Rotates well through core with a clean arm action out front. FB worked to both sides of the plate at 80-82 & paired with CB/SL combination.

‘28 1B Gregory Johnson (Puyallup)
Extra strong frame with powerful levers. Johnson is an advanced bat who combines exceptional strength with present feel for the barrel with a controlled swing. Generates easy power while staying within himself and letting the barrel work freely. Easy to dream on the power projection with his peak EV up to 95.2 & ability to lift the ball.

‘26 OF/LHP Carter Lystra (Silas)
Intriguing 2-way athlete who stood out with his long, lanky actions and projectable build. Whippy left-handed arm talent that plays from both OF (83 mph) and on the mound (81 mph). Ideal L/L profile for the OF. Worked middle/backside throughout BP with a short, direct barrel path and a more level finish.

‘26 RHP/3B Jacob McCall (West Seattle)
2-way prospect who possesses a quick left-handed stroke and solid actions over at 3B with plenty of arm strength. Shined brightest on the mound thanks to his advanced arsenal with promising metrics, specifically his CB/SL with 2,700 rpm+ each. Couple the secondaries with a FB up to 84.5 and McCall has one of the better repertoires in the ‘26 class.

‘26 SS/RHP Christopher Moore (Kentlake)
#1 ranked prospect in the ‘26 class. Moore is an athletic SS with light, quick feet, a clean exchange & above average arm strength. At the plate, his power & ability to accelerate the barrel showed improvement and he maintains a well rounded approach. On the mound, we saw him up to 88.8 mph while never dipping below 87. He holds his velocity & command while also utilizing a tight SL and late fading CH. Washington commit

‘28 SS Lincoln Moore (Kentlake)
An up-and-coming prospect to watch who checks a lot of boxes. Moore showcased elite athleticism at SS with his lateral agility, arm strength and body control. Fits the profile to stick in the middle of the diamond long-term Offensively, everything syncs up into a simple operation and he has the chance to hit for consistent contact & power. Simply put, there’s a lot to like and he should only continue to improve as he matures across the next few years.

‘27 OF/RHP William Prinz (Bishop Blanchet)
Athletic OF prospect with loud tools and physicality. Prinz showed some explosive traits in his game with an arm up to 85 mph from the OF and a peak EV at 96.2. All this combined with his short term burst in the 30 bodes well for his overall development long term. At the plate, not only hits the ball hard, but hits the ball hard easily with barrel accuracy and sustainable effort. Name to watch in the 2027 class.

‘26 OF/RHP Gabriel Prock (Eastlake)
Prock has some of the most intriguing upside we saw at the event thanks in part to his size, actions and arm talent. At 6’1, 165 he has a high-waisted frame and long, loose levers. Showed the best speed at the event with a 3.81 in the 30 & was 83 mph from the OF. On the mound, after pitching comfortably with the FB at 82-83, he reached back and found 85.5 with his best bolt on the night. Could be poised to make a big jump in 2024.

‘25 C/RHP Jackson Rankin (Bellevue)
Rankin is a quality receiver behind the dish and delivered one of the best catch & throw performances we saw during the defensive workout. Consistently finding the bag with an easy exchange out of the crouch and accurate ball flight. Offensively the left-handed stroke worked middle/oppo with an uphill approach and consistent lift. Also intrigues on the mound where he was 82-84 with a sharp SL. Physically can do a lot of things to impact the game.

‘27 C/3B Keagan Soliza (Puyallup)
One of the best overall skill-sets at the event. Soliza was exceptional with his throw downs from C & also has the glove/footwork to be a capable defender on the INF. The bat really excelled on this look, especially from the left-side where he peppered line drives with a loose, twitchy barrel and steady rhythm. Strong profile with his ability to switch hit and handle multiple defensive positions. Noticeable confidence.

‘25 OF/RHP Tate Stearns (North Kitsap)
Extra strong frame with durable size at 6’3, 215 lbs. Stearns looks the part and delivered a strong performance with power projection and offensive upside to go with the tools to be a capable defender in the OF. Moves the barrel easily with a rotational swing from a wide, sturdy base. Up to 80 mph from the OF with a peak FB of 82.5 mph. Also worth noting he put together an elite evaluation with his Vizual Edge testing.
