Top Overall Prospects
Doug Smith RHP / Central Crossing, OH / 2015Rankings StateRank: 103 / POS: 30
The Tri-C ace looked very sharp in his bullpen. Delivery is smooth and doesn’t require much effort. Arm works well through a high-¾ slot and ball comes out of his hand well. It was only a bullpen but Smith impressed with his feel for all three of his offerings. Located fastball to both sides of the plate and changed eye levels. Sat mostly 86-88 and was anywhere from 85-89 mph with late life down in the zone. Secondary stuff is led by his 71-73 mph slider. Spins the pitch well, giving it solid depth as it darts across the zone. Shows signs of being a legitimate put-away offering. Changeup looks to be a well above average weapon as well. Maintains arm speed on the pitch that has late run/sink to it at 79-81 mph. Recently committed to Toledo. |
