CLASS 4A SECTIONALS
MOUNT CARMEL
St. Rita (32-6) defeated St. Laurence 8-4 behind Marty Bechina and Danny Gleaves. Bechina and Gleaves both deposited baseballs off the premises of Haggerty Field and both drove home three Mustang runs. Matt Lenzen went the distance firing a seven hitter at the Vikings.
ROMEOVILLE
Plainfield North (29-7) won in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the eighth to stun Cinderella Naperville Central 4-3. Naperville Central (19-17) grabbed a 3-2 lead scoring a run in the top of the eighth. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, North’s Bryan Van Duser got plunked and went to third on a booming double off the bat of Tiger Jake Dunham.
