SNEAK PEEK TOP PERFORMERS: CLASS OF ‘16/’17 GAMES

By Dan Machovina
PBR Ohio Assistant Scouting Director

Nicholas Binnie, INF/RHP, North Canton Hoover, 2017

6-foot, 170-pound frame with room to fill. Although he is listed as primarily an infielder Binnie had the top velocity on the mound during the games. He threw with a short arm action and quick arm speed coming from a ¾ slot. His fastball was consistently 84-85 mph. Needs to develop secondary pitches. His curveball was 62-64 mph with slurvy type break. His Slider was tighter and his better breaking pitch at 70 mph with average break to it. Showed well as a position player also. Squared up a single up the middle and grounded out to third base showing descent speed. Right handed hitter starts with a tall feet closer together balanced set up. He uses a longer stride and hands back trigger that gets close to arm bar at times. Showed descent power for size and age.
