As we near the end of 2023, our staff would like to take a look back at the standout players and standout moments from the Virginia/DC High School Season. We have selected five end of the year categories where we will pick out the ten best players/moments for that specific category. 

After we presented numbers two through ten of the best moments from the 2023 high school season, we want to highlight the 2023 VA/DC High School Rewind: Best Clutch Moment of the year. On June 6, 2023, Westfield took on visiting Lake Braddock in the 6A State Quarterfinals. The Bulldogs gave up three runs in the top of the fifth, but would come clawing back. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Jonny Farmelo came up with one runner on base, down two runs, and belted a 2-0 pitch over the wall to tie it up. But Farmelo wasn't done. The now Seattle Mariners first round pick led off the bottom of the eighth, worked a 1-2 count, and would then 

Recently, John Nolan had a chance to catch up with Jonny Farmelo to break down that game, and more specifically that game winning homerun. The Westfield graduate also had a chance to talk about the draft and selection to the Seattle Mariners. See the full interview below.
