VA/DC 2025 Rankings Update: New Faces

With a rankings update comes new faces entering the rankings. While the 2025 class will not expand from it's current 200 player list, there are nearly two dozen players that will be entering the rankings.
Today we will feature five players that from that group of new faces that will make their way into the ranks this week.
New Faces:

Matthew Bobsin RHP / 1B / Miller, VA / 2025Thick, strong, and mature 6-foot-2, 220-pound frame. Slightly shorter arm swing and works from a higher three-quarter arm slot. The fastball sat in the mid 80's and got up to 87-88 a few times. There is some ride on the fastball that would suggest the fastball has some ability to play up in the zone. The secondary is average and has a late, tighter shape. The junior right hander is back healthy and has a chance to have a big year for the Mavericks. As the secondary continues to take shape, his stock should continue to climb with the advancement of those pitches.

Nick Felton OF / St. John's, VA / 2025Right on cue, another St. John's product shows progression. Felton is the latest left handed bat for the Cadets that has really taken a step forward. Long and lanky frame, room to fill, and a short accurate stroke at the plate. Is patient in his load and pre-pitch work, short level path, and willing to use the whole field. Contact driven with some doubles power to pull. Felton is an average to slightly above average runner and probably has more LF/CF projection. It is a solid hit tool that plays in game and will continue to make strides as he adds strength to the frame.

Dillon O'Connor RHP / OF / Miller School, VA / 2025We have had a chance to watch this uncommitted arm over the past 8-10 months and there may not be an arm in the state that has made the jumps that he has. In that short amount of time O'Connor has gone from low 80's in June and July, to now sitting mid 80's and running it up to 87-88. He is listed at 6-foot-4 and he is every single bit of that and more. The secondary is firm with solid arm speed and intent, while the shape is still progressing. There is some sneaky athleticism to the ultra-projectable frame and plenty more to dream on.

Townsend Peper RHP / Saint Anne's-Belfield, VA / 2025Athletic frame, light effort, shorter arm stroke from a low three-quarter slot. The fastball had some really nice run back over the glove side edge and showed some ability to run it under right handed hitter's hands. Peper lands closed, creating some of that arm side run, but can get in trouble at times when he runs it middle-middle. The slider has shown some depth with 11/5 shape while sitting in the mid 70's and has the makings of a solid out pitch. Should be another quality arm for STAB this spring that will be one to keep a close eye on.

Rowan Powers RHP / 1B / Ocean Lakes, VA / 2025Another Ocean Lakes quality arm in a long line of quality arms in recent years. 6-foot-3, 190-pound frame. There is some pace, intent, and slightly above normal effort for the junior right hander. While Powers sat low 80's during the Phillies Scout Day in early June, he showed some added arm strength in late July, getting up to 86-87 at the 17U National Championship. It is a lower slot with some arm side run and sinker profile. The breaking ball is still a work in progress, sitting low 70's and tends to back up out of the hand. A big 6-foot-3 arm with some physicality and projection left.
