Over the past four days our staff has highlighted new faces to the rankings, risers, as well as a Top 50 release and a Top 100 release.
Today we want to highlight fifty players from across the Commonwealth and DC that are in strong consideration for rankings. In future updates, it is very likely that some of these names move their way into the ranks. Watch out for these players as they continue to develop and make gains.
The first player we would like to highlights is Lorenzo Cafferillo. The Charlottesville sophomore had a standout performance on the mound at the Mid-Atlantic State Games. Cafferillo is a catcher and arm, but it was his stuff and different look on the mound that leaves intrigue for the future. Low 80's, slow build up delivery, short arm action from a low slot, and the ability to finish counts with spin. It is a control over command arm and makes for some difficult at bats for hitters. The right hander would run a fastball up and in on an early, even count, and would then go back to back sliders for strikes to finish off the hitter. Hitters did not look comfortable and with the raw arm strength, lower slot, and ability to spin from that lower slot, Cafferillo definitely has some future value on the mound.

Slower paced delivery w longer AA from tough slot. Uncomfortable at bats & worked in and out.

Zorro Hott was an impressive look this fall at PBR tournaments. Hott was a barrel finder this fall in front of our staff. Toe tap stride from a slightly wider base, compact stroke, and a level path through the zone. The Atlee outfielder worked gap to gap with more doubles power and a really solid feel for the barrel in game. The hit tool showed some adjustability and solid plate coverage. Lean on the side of more of an average run tool with the in game turns that we saw. Hott is yet another talented underclassman to display plenty of upside for the future of the Atlee program.

Hott has been very impressive today. Another barrel over the center fielder following a 2B earlier.@rise_baseball wins 6-1.#VAFallOpen pic.twitter.com/x2B4KrGkBD
Another intriguing arm from out west is Auburn HS right hander, Matthew Altizer. Altizer was one of the more interesting arms we saw at the NRV Tigers Scout Day. 6-foot-1, 175-pound long athletic frame with proportional strength. It is easy effort on the mound with a short quick arm. The fastball sat 82-84 mph and tended to work to the arm side. The fastball was solid, but it was the secondary mix that jumped out the most. Curveball and slider with the ability to land both and distinct differences between the two. Both pitches registered 30+ spin scores and showed solid shape and action. In addition to the two breakers, he landed a mid 70's changeup for strikes that showed really nice arm side fade. Should be a strong follow for the Class 1 power, Auburn Eagles.

6-1 175lb frame. Working exclusively from stretch with a shorter arm action.
