Nelson Mercado 1B / RHP / St. Augustine, ON / 2021

Report: A physical kid, 15-year-old Nelson Mercado put a stamp on his first T12 appearance, striking the side in his lone scoreless inning. His fastball ran up to 87 mph, sitting in the 85-86 mph range, while also flipping in a couple solid changeups and breaking balls. At 6-foot-2, 215-pounds, Mercado is something to dream on going forward.

Evan O'Toole RHP / OF / Vauxhall Academy, AB / 2019

Report: O’Toole was the first arm to take the mound at the Rogers Centre yesterday, and he didn't disappoint. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound uncommitted right-hander from the 2019 class was up to 89 mph from a loose and quick ¾ arm slot. Action on the fastball with some arm side run, O’Toole still needs to develop his secondary stuff and he will flash some glimpses of a slider in the 71-74 range, the arm speed really stands out and when more innings and appearances come, the stuff is only going to get better and more consistent.

Brayden Cust RHP / OF / Prospects Academy, AB / 2019

Report: Cust, a 2019 two-way player from Alberta hopped on the mound yesterday for two innings and struck out 6 with arm speed and whip out front. The fastball worked in the 84-86 range with arm side run and while showing a breaking ball at 70 mph that he was able to use an out pitch. Interesting uncommitted 2019 with athletic abilities on both sides of the ball.

Owen Diodati C / A.N. Myer, ON / 2019

Report: Diodati, the Alabama commit from Great Lake Canadians went tank into the right-field bullpen yesterday for the first HR of Tournament 12. Big strong left-handed bat, we;ve seen he can  was a 2.20 regularly behind the dish on his pop times.

Ayden Makarus C / 3B / WH Croxford, AB / 2019

Report: Of all the catchers in the country, Okotoks catcher Ayden Makarus might be among the strongest. There’s swing and miss in his game, but it’s loud off the barrel. He showcased that again on the first day of T12 as he ripped an RBI single up the middle.

Dasan Brown OF / SS / Abbey Park, ON / 2019

Report: Dasan played really well in his first appearance we’ve seen since signing to Texas A&M. He played well defensively in centre, showing off his arm while making a couple nice plays on balls in the gap. Was a 4.00 down, lead-off with a single in the first inning and then proceeded to steal second and third base, scoring the first run of the game. We love the athleticism and the bat has continued to gain traction and develop over the summer.

Loreto Siniscalchi RHP / Langley, BC / 2021

Report: 2021 Loreto Siniscalchi struck out the side in his first T12 appearance. One of the more exciting young arms in Canada, Siniscalchi sat 85-86 mph with glimpses of a good breaking ball. It’s early for the British Columbia right-hander, but if this is any indication of where he’s at in terms of talent, he might be the top 2021 arm North of the border.

Viktor Bergeron
Report: Bergeron worked two innings of relief yesterday, and the uncommitted 2019 struck out 4 in his two innings of work. The fastball was up to 87 mph while he showed really good feel with his changeup at 80 mph and the breaking ball with 11/5 shape and late downward action. He overmatched the Futures hitters and should see action later in the week.

Jaycob Lachance
Report:
Lachance, a 2020 right-hander from Quebec, Lachance was athletic and loose on the mound with fastball in the 83-85 range and curveball at 72 mph. He gets down the mound well, involving his lower half and was able to throw strikes with all his pitches. Intriguing young arm to keep an eye on.

Antoine Jean
Report:
This is the second time we’ve seen Quebec left-hander Antoine Jean in the last month, and he continues to impress. The velocity is still 81-83 mph, but the pitchability is advanced and he shows curveball feel. But what he lacks in heat he makes up with control of the zone, and he seems to show constant success every time he gets on the mound.

Antony Gilbert
Report:
After putting on a show in the Canada Cup, seemingly hitting a double in every game, Quebec utility man Antony Gilbert stayed hot with another line drive. There’s nothing exceptional in his game, but Gilbert is going to be a tremendous JUCO option for a school looking to steal a 2019 bat.
