Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: 2024 OF Akoi Burton

As we wrap up the 2023 season, we now continue our coverage of the talent we've seen so far this year in Colorado with 'Uncommitted Spotlights' of the top prospects still on the board. While there's already prospects in the class committed to programs already, there remains a slew of high-end talent still available.

These spotlights help paint a picture of the prospect with the help of our TrackMan, Blast Motion, Swift Performance and Vizual Edge systems, that provides objective data that teams use to identify and break down players they believe will fit into their system.

Today, we continue our Top Uncommitted Spotlights with a look at 2024 OF Akoi Burton of Cherokee Trail HS. The senior comes with some strength and athleticism with clean actions in the outfield. Burton also hit .368 with a .539 SLG% (76 at-bats) as a junior this spring in one of the toughest leagues in Colorado.

Positional Profile: OF/3B
Body: 5-11, 165-pounds. Wiry and athletic build.
Hit: RHH. Upright, feet narrow, slightly open stance, hands at shoulder, bat angle flat, quiet stance. Load onto backside and with hands, small leg kick, medium stride, rotational top half, short to the baseball, long through the zone. 62 mph bat speed with 11 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: Line drive swing with developing power and quality hands.
Arm: RH. OF-85 mph. Medium arm swing out of a 3/4 arm slot.
Defense: Fields the ball out front, active feet, fluid transfer and release, works through target.
ATH: 7.23 runner in the 60. 1.79 and 4.02 in the 10 and 30 yard splits.
