The Top 5

The Top 5 has undergone big changes after the first week of the high school season, but Catholic BR is still our #1 team, after an impressive Week 1, in which they beat St. Paul's and then swept West Monroe.  Senior Trip Dobson came through in a big way for the Bears, both at the plate and on the mound, as he earned a win and a save and went 5-15 with 2 HR and 2 2B with 6 RBI and 4 R last week.  St. Amant moves up five spots to take the #2 spot this week, after going 5-0 last week with a big win over Alabama powerhouse Hewitt-Trussville, who started the season as the 4th ranked team in the Yellowhammer State.  Dutchtown moves into the Top-10 at #3, after a 5-0 week that also saw them take down Hewitt-Trussville of Alabama.  Benton moves up to #4, after a dominating first week of play, in which they scored 50 runs and only gave up 9 runs, on route to a 5-0 record.  Natchitoches Central rounds out the Top-5 at the #5 spot, after a 4-0 week, in which they scored 46 runs.

Risers

Captain Shreve moves up 8 spots to #10, after going a perfect 5-0 on the week.  The Gators had key wins over Texas High (TX) and defending State Champion Ouachita Christian.

+ East Ascension makes their Power 25 Rankings debut this week at the #22 spot, after a 4-0 opening week.  The Spartans had a big opening day win over Covington and then beat Corinth (MS) last Friday.

+ Mandeville also makes their Power 25 Rankings debut, after going 3-1 last week, as they check in at #16 this week.  The Skippers secured a massive opening night upset win over Central (BR) and also took down defending State Champion St. Charles with their only loss coming at the hands of a talented Archbishop Rummel team.
