MD/DE Class of 2024 Rankings Update: Top 50

It's officially that time of the year, and once again our staff will be updating the rankings throughout the next few weeks. First up is the Class of 2024, and although we are not expanding in terms of total number of players ranked, we do see some movement throughout the Top 225. Today, we kick off the rankings week with an in-depth look our Top 50 players.
Remaining at the top spot for the second consecutive update, University of Maryland commit Jake Yeager (Archbishop Spalding) has proved to be the pound for pound top prospect in this class. After a dominate spring campaign, followed by a high octane summer, our staff was able to get eyes on Yeager once again in mid-September, where the athletic, 6-foot-4 righty showcased an electric three-pitch mix with the fastball ranging in the low 90's. The slider induces plenty of whiffs in the zone and consistently shows the ability to spin for strikes with ease, backed by an above average changeup that fades away to left-handed hitters. There's no question that Yeager's name will create buzz for this year's upcoming MLB Draft.

A strong showing at this year's Mid-Atlantic ProCase sees Ryan Maxey (George Mason commit) slide up two spots, sitting right outside of the Top 10 at number eleven. A smooth left-handed stroke, the Georgetown Prep product has developed into one of the top middle infielders in the class, and a strong showing in early August cemented that take. The defensive actions are progressing with fluidity and quick hands that allows for versatility in the infield, and the bat has shown to produce some sneaky pop out of the 5-foot-9, 185 pound frame.

One of the many risers in this newest update, right-hander Aidan Watts (Rochester commit) opened a ton of eyes at the PBR Virginia Open in October, leading to a jump to number 30. It's a long, strong 6-foot-3, 195 pound makeup with controlled intent on the bump, running the fastball into the upper 80's with much more in the tank. Impressed by the ability to change eye-levels and fill up strikes to all quadrants, the Walter Johnson product has also shown the ability to spin a tight slider for weak contact in and out of the zone.
