On Saturday, February 25th, 2023, Prep Baseball Report Minnesota will be conducting its 4th annual PBR Preseason ID- South Dakota event, to be held at the Avera Dome in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The state of South Dakota continues to show talent each year at this event and this year will be no different. Players from the 2023-2027 grads will showcase their abilities in front of the PBR staff. The roster of players comes from four states: Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.

One of the 2024 graduates that will be in attendance on Saturday and ranked in Minnesota’s top 100 players is Dell Rapids’ Jackson Henry. The other young player who has seen progress in his game is Harrisburg’s Noah Boschee.

Henry, ranked 36th in Minnesota’s 2024 class is a talented prospect with a projectable frame at 6-foot-3, 180-pounds.  Henry shows well at the plate but on the mound is where he stands out.  Last August at the Summer ID event in Brandon Valley he registered a fastball at 82-84 mph, while topping out at 86 mph with life, to go along with a good feel for both the curveball and change-up. Long and loose with plenty of room to fill out his frame, Henry is an arm to keep an eye on in South Dakota.

Boschee, a 2025 graduate, has been seen at a handful of events by the staff. A right-handed hitting, right-handed throwing 2-way prospect has  shown some upside. Currently at 6-foot and 195-pound, Boschee shows above average strength to the frame for his grad class. The Harrisburg product posted a 96 mph exit velocity in the past, 80 mph arm velocity and ran a 7.54 60-yard dash. On the mound the fastball was 76-78 mph when he attended his last event. The bat plays ahead on the arm, but the young prospect will be on to keep tabs on Saturday.

This event is designed to allow players to showcase their ability which allows colleges to identify prospective student-athletes earlier in the recruiting process or find players needed immediately for next year. Players will also be evaluated and considered for updated player rankings along with being considered for future PBR “Invite-Only” events. The showcase will be featured on the PBR’s website, where more than 900 college coaches subscribe to look for talent. Scouting reports, statistics, and videos will be hosted in player profiles. Top players will also be identified from this event.
