Uncommitted Senior Spotlight: Carter Schmidt- Chaska

Carter Schmidt

Carter Schmidt, Catcher, Chaska HS, Class of 2015

6-foot-1 180-pounds. Right-handed hitter. Swings well and has pop. Good hands and balance at the plate. Consistent hitter. Shows ability to hit for average and drive in runs. Receives and blocks well. Reported 1.92 pop time at Elite Baseball Showcase in December. Quick release behind the plate. Good athlete who is versatile, can also play OF. Has continued to improve through the course of the fall and winter.

PBR: What schools have expressed interest in you?

SCHMIDT: Nebraska-Omaha, University of North Dakota, University of Missouri-St. Louis, Morehead State, Minnesota State-Mankato, Concordia-St. Paul, and several other D2 and D3 schools. 

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future?

SCHMIDT: Nebraska-Omaha, St. Thomas, St. Scholastica, Augustana, Mankato State, Concordia-St. Paul and St. Johns. 

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

SCHMIDT: Quality academics with a strong medical field or criminal justice program. A school that feels right, is a good fit, and a place I am able to build relationships with teammates, coaches, and classmates.

PBR: What were some of your highlights during your junior year?

SCHMIDT: I led the team in RBI’s. My batting average was .320; which is something I expect to significantly improve upon my senior year. We went to state in legion and I had a .529 batting average with 8 RBI’s.

PBR: What are your goals for this year?

SCHMIDT: Win our conference, win a State championship, then behind those have a .500 BA with 10 home runs.

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

SCHMIDT: Four year starter along with being captain of the hockey team. 

PBR: What is your ACT and GPA?

SCHMIDT: I have a 24 on the ACT and currently maintaining a 3.69 GPA.
