OUR Q&A

PBR: What were your expectations about the recruiting process? What were you looking for out of a college program to continue your baseball career at?

Teater: I was looking for a program with a rich winning tradition, and a place where I would be able to develop into a better player and person.

PBR: Did location or distance from home play a factor in your decision?

Teater: Yes, it was a major factor in my final decision. My family is very important to me, being that close to home my family will be able to attend many of the games.

PBR: When did the recruiting process really start to heat up for you? Where did the school you committed to first see you play?

Teater: It really started to heat up the summer after my freshman year, that’s when more schools started to reach out to me. The very first time Southern saw me play it was my 8th grade year against Sumrall. But I had a great opportunity to play a few games in front of them at the 2022 Future Games.

PBR: What do you like most about the program you chose, and what were the key factors in making your decision?

Teater: The thing I liked most about Southern was the gritty mentality they have. Along with the great atmosphere and great coaching staff.

PBR: What other schools were on your short list before you made your final decision?

Teater: LA Tech, South Alabama, Auburn

PBR: Who is the best player you have ever faced? What about them makes for a tough opponent?

Teater: I think the best player I faced was current LSU pitcher Aiden Moffet. He was a high 90’s guy, with some nasty off speed stuff.

PBR: At what point in your career did you realize you were a college-caliber player and became serious about taking your game to the next level?

Teater: I would say it was my 8th grade summer, that was when I realized I had the talent to play at a higher level, I knew if I worked hard enough I’d get there.

PBR: What advice would you give to young baseball players striving to get where you are?

Teater: I would tell them to work as hard as possible. No matter if your getting the results you want or not, just trust the process and get better everyday. Enjoy the good moments and learn from the bad ones.

PBR: What is the most memorable moment in your baseball career to this point?

Teater: The most memorable moment was my 8th grade year when I had the opportunity to play for a state title. On a team with incredible players and coaches.

PBR: Preview your high school team's season for us. How do you feel your team will be?

Teater: I think we have a chance to make a run again this year. With a extremely talented line up, deep bullpen and excellent coaching staff. We will be a very competitive team.
