In the third game of the 3 game series, Fuquay-Varina was able to advance to the championship series by defeating Apex 3 to 1.  Senior RHP Kyle Mott worked 6 innings, keeping Apex off balance as he continually attacked with a fastball / curveball combination.  Mott showed an ability to locate his breaking ball and racked up 8 strikeouts on the day.

In the top of the first inning, Apex’s lead-off hitter, CJ Conrad (2018, Winthrop Commit), led off with a double. Second baseman, Sam Highfill (2019, NC State Commit), popped up to the pitcher; third baseman, Cameron Roof (2018, Winthrop Commit), walked and first baseman, Wyatt McInnis (2018) grounded out allowing Conrad to move to third base. Conrad scored on a pass ball for the only run Apex would be able to score in the game.
