With 2023 now in the past, PBR Ohio is eagerly anticipating bringing the Buckeye state the best high school coverage that can be found anywhere in 2024. Starting in February, we began releasing team previews for squads across the state. Ahead, we will have Preseason All-State Teams as well as the Preseason State Rankings coming your way.

2024 Spring Team Preview: Holland Springfield Blue Devils

Team Name: Holland Springfield Blue Devils
Head Coach: Dave Whitmire
Division: I
2023 Record: 15-14
2023 Tourney Finish: District Finals loss to Anthony Wayne
Returning Starters/Pitchers: 7/3

Coach Outlook: "This team is hungry. We were so close last year to winning a district championship. We didn't finish the job last year and it stung for a long time and still does. We have several guys back this year that played siginifcant roles last year. We will play defense for sure. We have several kids that have been on the varsity for 3-4 years now. Need to find a way to win the close games. The league is always tough and has some really good arms this year. It will be a challenge each day and our kids will be ready for the challenge."

2024 Team Strengths:

  • Defense (This is possibly the best defense team I have had in my 15 year career at Springfield.)
  • Team Chemistry.

Top Returning Players:

  • Will Scott LHP/OF, 2024, 6-1/175, L/L, 3 year starter, Last Years Stats - .352 AVG, 9 2B, 3 3B, 1 HR, 16 RBI's, 17 R, 8 SB, - Led team in hitting. Great Athlete - QB on football team
  • Dallas Allen 1B/RHP, 2024, 6, 180, R/R - 4 year starter, .240 AVG, 3 2B, 14RBI, 15 R, 8 SB. 0-2. 2.33ERA, 15K, 7 BB. Outstanding defensive 1B. Avg. dropped from sophomore year. Expecting big things this year
  • Nick Winslow - 2B, 2024 5-8, 150 - R/R, 3 year sarter, .282 AVG, 5 2B, 1 3B, 17 RBI, 14 R, 1 SB One word - consistent. Outstanding 2B. Made 1 error last season
  • Evan McGannon - C, 2024 5-9, 165 R/R - 4 year starter, .200 AVG. average dropped drastically from freshman and sophomore year. Expect him to have a great year. Great defensive catcher
  • Adam Iserman - RHP 2024 - 6-2/190 - 4 year starter. Struggle hitting last year Pitching 4-2 W/L, 37 IP, 27 K, 21BB. Will either be #1 or #2 guy
  • Gavin Robinson - SS 2024 - 4 year starter - probably all around best defensive player. Can play anywhere on the field, but primarily will be our SS.
