The 2024 Texas high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Texas.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons in Austin at the UIL State Tournament in June, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Texas. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 30 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

TEAM OUTLOOK

The Lindale Eagles look to build off of a strong 2023 season in which they finished as 4A Regional Quarterfinalists. Coach Rich Sanguinetti’s 2024 squad returns eight starters on offense and his top two arms from last season.

Starting with the arms for the Eagles, you have to begin with the reigning District MVP from last year in uncommitted senior RHP/INF Ryan Betts. Betts will lead the rotation with the help of junior RHP Hudson Legrow (uncommitted), who was awarded First Team All-District last season. Projected to make his varsity debut this season for the Eagles, RHP/OF Karter Fleming (2026) could factor into the Lindale pitching staff in 2024 and beyond. The Eagles have another young arm to monitor in freshman LHP Jackson Legrow, who hopes to get varsity innings right away to begin his high school career.

On offense, the Eagles will be led by reigning District Co-Offensive Player of the Year in senior INF Kaden Fleming (uncommitted). Fleming will lead an offense that returns three additional players who were awarded All-District honors a season ago. Uncommitted senior OF Jake Curbow (1st Team) and uncommitted senior UTL Carson Plunkett (2nd Team) return in 2024 as well as junior INF Jake Powell (uncommitted - 1st Team). Keep an eye on sophomore newcomer C Dax Derfelt to potentially make an impact on the varsity squad behind the dish this season.

With their returning pieces, Lindale has a lot to like and be excited about entering their 2024 campaign. With their top duo on the mound and All-District talent on offense, look for the Eagles to make another deep 4A postseason run this year.
