Los Angeles, Calif. - Each week during the high school season we will announce the NorCal Pitcher and Player of the Week covering the action from the previous week. Numerous players across the state continue to put up impressive numbers both as position players and pitchers on the mound. This year we will be selecting one Pitcher of the Week and one Player of the Week based on recommendations from high school coaches from Northern California. 

Continuing from previous seasons, we will also be highlighting others players from across the state in our Prep Baseball California Diamond Notes that will be released weekly. Our Diamond Notes will highlight other players nominated by high school coaches that are deserving of recognition that were not named Pitcher of Player of the Week. 

(Note for this week: No pitcher was selected based on submissions, but we did go with Co-Players of the Week for Nor Cal)

CO-PLAYERs OF THE WEEK

SR. Jax Gimenez returns for his 2nd Player of the Week honor in NorCal. The Oregon Duck commit from Whitney High School had an outstanding week that culminated with him setting the Whitney High school recored for career hits when he blasted a HR off Vacaville and now sits at 117 hits for his career. For the week he went 7-13 facing off with Rocklin and Vacaville amongst those 7 hits Gimenez picked up the HR, a double, 3 RBIs, scored 6 runs, walked twice and stole 6 bases. Another impressive week for Gimenez.

Sharing the honors this week is SR. INF Tanner Lee from Livermore High School. Livermore picked up a split against Foothill High School and in those 2 games Lee collected 4 hits over the course of 8 at bats including a double and a grand slam while scoring 2 runs. His performance on the week put him in rare company for Livermore becoming just the sixth player at Livermore High School to collect 30 hits in a season (based on current official statistics maintained by the school).
