Preseason All-State Roster Preview: Part Ten

Scott Hood
Oklahoma State Director

As we get prepared for our premiere event of the year in the Preseason All-State, we start the process by breaking down each individual attendee with notes on videos their game.  The Preseason All-State attracts some of the top talent from all across the state creating platforms and driving eye-balls for recruiters and scouts at the next level to help guide them throughout the spring recruiting.  This year's event will take place once again at Oral Roberts University of February 11th featuring a pro-style workout with data collected by our tech partners, social media coverage, and updated video for the profile.

Jaxon Rice OF / LHP / Deer Creek, OK / 2026

We last caught a look at the 2-way prospect from Deer Creek Last January at the 2023 OKC Preseason ID.  There, Rice used a loose swing and athletic swing to create exit velos up to 81.1 mph and showing quick hands through the zone.  On the mound, the left-hander worked the fastball up to 76 mph and showed a sweeping slider in the mid 60's and fading changeup up to 85 mph.  Previously standing at 6-feet and 165-pounds, expect Rice to see a jump in the metrics this Sunday after another year of adding strength and gaining more experience under his belt.

Bo Stubbs C / RHP / Inola, OK / 2026

Stubbs is a returner to the Preseason All-State after attending the 2023 event as a freshman.  Stubbs will once again workout both behind the plate and on the mound at this Sunday's event.  Last year, the switch hitter showed a short and compact rotational swing to generate exit velos up to 84.7 mph.  He added pop times from behind the plate as low as 2.20.  On the mound, Stubbs showed a heavy sinking fastball in the low 70's and adding a developing curveball and fading changeup.

Zac Thompson SS / 3B / Harrah, OK / 2025

We got two recent looks at Thompson this past, first at the OK Canes Scout Day followed up by an appearance at the Uncommitted Upperclass Games.  Each time we see Zac he continues to show jumps and gains but most especially with the bat.  Thompson has shown some strength at contact in the past reaching up to 93 mph off the barrel using strong overall bat speed and quick hands through the zone.  The infielder will also show active feet in the infield with an understanding of routes to the ball.  With Thompson's track record of always showing improvement, don't be surprised to see another jump from him this Sunday.

Mason Thornton OF / Elgin, OK / 2026

Thornton last impressed at the OKC Open this past July as well as some looks at him throughout the summer circuit.  Thornton packs a ton of punch in the 5-foot-10 and 145-pound frame with exit velos working up into the upper 80's and showing big arm strength from both the infield and the outfield at 85 mph.  While some of the numbers won't jump off the page, it's Thornton's in-game production that stands out as a high level producer with top of the order type offensive qualities.  His best tool however comes in his ability to play elite level defense in the outfield which is not a sentence we throw around lightly for sophomores in high school.  Thornton will also work on the mound where he has strong strike throwing abilities and attack on hitters.  He's already shown the ability to work the fastball in the low 80's and we'd expect to see that number continue to climb as he keeps adding strength.

Jack Tiefenthaler OF / RHP / Jenks, OK / 2026

Tiefenthaler returns to one our events after last showcasing himself at the Marucci Midwest OK Scout Day this previous August.  There, the right handed hitter worked exit velos up to 86.1 mph using a simple linear swing and level bat path.  Tiefenthaler also added a 7.33 60 and 79 mph arm from the outfield.  Tiefenthaler will also take the mound this Sunday where he's previously worked the fastball up to 80 mph and showing the ability to shape both the slider and curveball and a firmer lower 70's changeup.

Tristan Tomlin OF / RHP / Deer Creek, OK / 2027

When it comes to pure athleticism there might not be one more physically-gifted in the 2027 class than Tomlin.  Tomlin recently represented Team OK at the Junior Future Games this past July where the 6-foot-3 and 185 pound freshman put his high level tools on display.  Already running a sub 7 60, there have been recent reports that have him lower his time pretty substantially as well as showing explosive jumping capabilities.  With the bat, Tomlin has reached exit velos in the mid 80's and that number should only continue to climb as he keeps adding strength.  Tomlin has one of the higher ceilings in the class and should be a prospect to circle heading into his high school career.

Braxton Brewer RHP / OF / Bishop McGuinness , OK / 2025

Brewer returns to showcase his skills at the Preseason All-State after a recent look at the two-way at this past month's OKC Preseason ID.  The Junior stands at a physical 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds and shows present strength that shows up on both sides of the ball.  On the mound, Brewer worked the fastball up to 83 mph and showed tight spin and feel for a lower 70's slider.  With the bat, he showed consistent hard contact during BP with a max exit velo of 89.1 mph and 84.9 mph average while reaching a max distance of 324 feet.  The arm strength is apparent especially in the outfield where he's reached up to 86 mph and he has shown some sneaky athleticism in the past with quick acceleration.

Wyatt McConnell 3B / OF / Elk City, OK / 2025

We last got a look at McConnell at the 2023 OKC Preseason ID where the outfielder impressed with the bat in his hands.  McConnell used his quick hands through the zone to generate exit velos up to 93.8 mph and carried a strong average of 83.7 mph across the round.  To go along with the hand strength, McConnell showed strong barrel control throughout the round with a knack for matching plane with the pitch and effectively using the middle of the field.  The bat has a chance to be the carrying tool for Wyatt going forward and we expect to continue to see jumps from him in the near future.

Vaughan McIntyre C / OF / Blanchard, OK / 2025

McIntyre is no stranger to performing well at our events and last put his skills on display at the Top Prospect Upperclass Games back in June of 2023.  McIntyre has one of the better left-handed swings in the class with a smooth stroke and unique ability to handle strong pitching.  He has shown advanced barrel control and worked exit velocities up to 88.7 mph in the past.  Defensively, Vaughan has shown strong receiving and blocking skills even with higher level arms and has a quick release reaching showcase pop times as low as 1.93.  McIntyre displays a lot of skills that are needed in backstops at the next level and should be an intriguing follow in the coming months.

Peyton Kilhoffer 3B / RHP / Dewar , OK / 2027

Killhoffer represented Team OK at the Junior Future Games in Atlanta where he showed some physicality with the bat and upside on the mound.  Offensively, the 6-foot-3 and 205 pounder worked exit velos up to 92.5 mph and started the games off with a bang smoking one off the left field wall.  He's got some positional versatility as a 3B/OF/ and catcher with the skills to effectively play all three going forward.  On the mound, Kilhoffer has worked the fastball into the upper 70's and feel for shaping the breaking ball.  With his high projectability and physicality, Kilhoffer will be a fun follow heading into the future.
