Arkansas Preseason All-State: Preview

By: Diego Solares
Central Region Media Director, Scouting

On Sunday, February 18th, the PBR Arkansas staff will make the trip to Fieldhouse Sports in Conway, AR, to host the annual Preseason All-State. This invite-only event will feature a multitude of the state's top prospects, representing the 2024-to-2027 classes, and those in attendance will participate in a pro-style workout in front of our staff.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer.

ROSTER PREVIEW

Per usual, the roster for this weekend is loaded with talent spread across from top to bottom, and we've spotlighted a few of the name-to-know prospects headed our way this weekend below.

Bodi Gist OF / Bentonville, AR / 2025

Uncommitted 5-foot-10, 150-pounds. One of the top-50 prospects in the state's junior class. Athletic left/left outfielder with quick twitch that has a quality approach at the plate and is consistently on the barrel in our looks.

Bowman Stein OF / Little Rock Catholic, AR / 2026

6-foot, 190-pound left-handed hitter that's one of the top prospects in the state's 2026 class. Plenty physical at the plate with noticeable bat strength to pair - 98.3 mph max exit velocity at the Top Prospect Underclass Games in the summer, averaged 89.2 mph per batted ball with a 356 foot peak. A name-to-know prospect headed into his sophomore year at Little Rock Catholic.

Major Jackson OF / Pulaski Academy, AR / 2026

Physical 6-foot, 180-pound frame with strength throughout that continues to improve each time we see him. Impressed at the Natural State Games in October last fall. Strong right-handed swing that stays on plane with above-average hand speed as well.

Keaton Mathis C / Valley View , AR / 2026

Arkansas commit and the top prospect in the state's current sophomore class. Easy, repeatable right-handed swing with balance and barrel feel that holds budding power potential. Advanced catch-and-throw behind the plate, an asset defensively. A high-follow sophomore in the region.

Noah Ragsdale 2B / Valley View, AR / 2026

5-foot-8, 155-pounds and a top-15 prospect in the Arkansas' 2026 class. Athletic up-the-middle follow with a consistant knack for contact. Fluid, sure-handed defender on the infield. Grinder type, 6.93 runner in the 60.

Elijah Nester 2B / Bentonville West, AR / 2026

6-foot, 150-pounds. A budding two-way sophomore prospect in the state with twitch on both sides of the ball. Polished approach at the plate with developing power and feel on the mound.

Trystan Newberry LHP / Russellville, AR / 2026

6-foot-1, 185-pound southpaw with strength throughout his frame. One of the top left-handed arms in the Arkansas' 2026 class. Fastball plays in the mid-to-upper-80s with more to come as he continues to fill out his frame with secondaries that have flashed swing-and-miss potential.

Jace Ruffner 3B / Bryant, AR / 2024

Uncommitted. 6-foot-3, 185-pounds with present physicality and room for more. Strong right-handed swing with power potential at the plate - 95 mph max EV this summer, 344 foot max batted distance. Arm strength shows on the field, has an upper-80s arm from the infield and outfield with a heavy low-to-mid-80s fastball to pair on the mound as well.

Madden Tatum 3B / Valley View, AR / 2026

6-foot-3, 180-pound frame with plenty of physical projection left to come. Sits inside the top-10 prospects in the Arkansas' 2026 class and represented the Natural State at the Future Games last year as an underclassmen. Easy, fluid, and pure left-handed swing with power potential at the next level. Pairs those offensive traits with loud stuff on the mound as well. A name-to-know sophomore in the region.

William Svoboda RHP / Pulaski Academy, AR / 2026

6-foot-3, 185-pound athlete that's also a high-follow sophomore in the state. Fastball plays in the mid-to-upper-80s right now with more room to add velocity as he continues to fill out his frame. Also spins a 2700+ RPM breaking ball in the low-70s. Swings a strong right-handed bat that's flashed juice in our looks as well.

Luke Weatherley C / Jonesboro , AR / 2027

5-foot-11, 165-pound athlete that's a top-10 prospect in Arkansas' 2027 class. Advanced catch-and-throw behind the plate with present power at the plate. Also has the potential to be an impact type on the mound as he continues to mature physically.

Greyson Westbrook 3B / Wynne, AR / 2025

6-foot-1, 195-pounds. Represented Arkansas at the PBR Future Games last summer. Athletic right-handed swing with bat strength from the right side. Also a follow on the mound; mid-to-upper-80s on the mound with a 2400+ RPM breaking ball and mid-70s changeup.

Maddox Hampton RHP / Nettleton, AR / 2025

6-foot, 175-pound athlete that was a member of Team Arkansas at the PBR Future Games last summer. Clean arm swing on the mound, repeats his delivery consistently. Has a polished three-pitch arsenal that he throws for strikes.

Ethan Norris RHP / Newport, AR / 2025

Projectable 6-foot-3, 175-pound athlete. Fastball plays with heavy sink and compliments it with feel for two secondaries.
